According to the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security , recently there have been new forms of traffic violation scams such as impersonating traffic police officers to call and notify people of traffic violations; and impersonating delivery drivers to deliver traffic violation notices.
By impersonating traffic police officers and calling citizens to inform them of traffic violations that have exceeded the processing deadline, scam groups often request recipients to quickly provide personal information such as full name, citizen identification number, bank account number, or verification codes.
After gaining trust, the scam group then instructs victims to transfer money to pay fines, verify documents, or sends online payment links. If people access these links, they risk having their personal information, bank accounts, or electronic devices stolen.
The Traffic Police Department affirms that law enforcement officers do not send traffic violation notices via phone, do not send notices through delivery services, and do not request people to transfer money over the phone to process violations.
