The inspection results showed that on the evening of May 17, 2023, despite being a member of the Standing Committee of the Bai Chay Ward Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Cell, and Chief of the Bai Chay Ward Police, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam was not exemplary in his lifestyle, activities, driving a car after drinking alcohol, driving in the wrong lane, leading to a traffic collision. After the collision, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam also behaved in an uncultured and unethical manner, threatened others in public places, violated regulations on exemplary responsibility of cadres, party members, and People's Public Security officers , violated Party regulations and the code of conduct of the Public Security sector.

Immediately after the incident, the Standing Committee of the Ha Long City Party Committee directed the City Police Party Committee, the City Party Committee's Inspection Committee, and the Bai Chay Ward Party Committee to inspect, verify information, and clarify the incident; at the same time, directed the City Party Committee's Inspection Committee to consider taking inspection steps when there were signs of violations against Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam. The City Party Committee's Propaganda Department promptly and transparently informed the public about the incident.

Through inspection and verification, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam's violations and shortcomings caused serious consequences, causing resentment among cadres, party members and people; affecting the prestige of the Party organization, government, and unit where he lives and works; damaging the image of the People's Public Security soldier and losing his personal prestige. Based on the report of the Bai Chay Ward Party Committee, the City Party Committee's Inspection Committee met, discussed, and unanimously voted to discipline Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam with a warning; at the same time, reported to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to coordinate and discuss with competent authorities to consider synchronous administrative handling according to regulations and transfer and assign other work for Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam.
