In the middle of the Northeast sea and sky, while many places are busy preparing for the national festival of sending children to school, Tran Island (Co To special zone, Quang Ninh ), the island outpost of the Fatherland, is also more bustling before the opening day of school.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Tran Island Inter-level School has 8 students, including 7 primary school students and 1 preschool child.

To prepare for the new school year, the three teachers in charge went to the island many days ago, bringing books, school supplies and excitement before the opening day.

This school year, volunteer teacher Le Thi Mai Linh brought her two sons (grades 3 and 5) to school to study with their friends on the island.

"I sent my child to the island to study so that he could be close to his mother, conveniently tutoring his studies, and at the same time helping him experience life on the island, helping him practice independence, knowing how to share difficulties and loving the frontier land of the Fatherland more," said Ms. Linh - a teacher of combined classes 4 and 5.

Teacher Pham Thi Hoa (teacher of combined class 1-3) was very touched when receiving help and clearly felt the solidarity and closeness of the army and people on the island.

Ms. Hoa said that as soon as she set foot on the island, she received attention and support from the locals, the government and the armed forces, from transporting supplies, arranging accommodation to cleaning the school, making her feel secure in teaching.

Besides two teachers Pham Thi Hoa and Le Thi Mai Linh who have just arrived on the island to take up their duties, Ms. Mai Thi Loan (kindergarten teacher) continues to volunteer to stay on Tran Island for another school year. Ms. Loan has been with the school since the previous school year.

"The class has only one teacher and one student. The conditions are poor, the weather is rough, and transportation is difficult. But seeing the students studying hard and looking forward to going to class every day, I feel all the hardships are worth it," Ms. Loan confided.

The school on Tran Island is not big, only a few classrooms, the number of students is small but each student here carries the expectations and beliefs of their family.

In the past few days, teachers have been busy arranging tables and chairs, hanging banners, cleaning every corner of the classroom, tables and chairs, toys for children and decorating the board, bustling to welcome the new school year.
