According to information from Van Don Regional General Hospital (Quang Ninh), on the night of June 1st, the hospital received an 81-year-old male patient (residing in Bac Ninh) suspected of having suffered a stroke while on vacation in Quan Lan.

The coordinated forces transported the patient, suspected of having a stroke, to the mainland for emergency treatment.
Previously, the patient was brought to the Quan Lan Regional Polyclinic with symptoms of fatigue, tremors, and repeated vomiting. Initial examination revealed a high fever, elevated blood pressure of 160/90 mmHg, weakness in the limbs, and facial asymmetry.
Recognizing this as a case of hypertension with suspected stroke requiring specialized intervention, the doctors quickly held a consultation and activated the emergency transfer procedure to Van Don Regional General Hospital.
Thanks to the readily available emergency medical services, the transportation of patients from the island to the mainland was carried out quickly and safely. Immediately after admission, the hospital conducted tests, ultrasounds, and CT scans of the brain.
Imaging results revealed a hypodense focus in the left coronal radiating region, suggesting a possible cerebral infarction; several pre-existing lesions were also detected in the bilateral thalamus, bilateral basal ganglia, and left lateral capsule. The patient is currently under close monitoring and intensive treatment.
Recently, to meet the increasing demand for emergency medical services during the island tourism season, Van Don Regional General Hospital has proactively arranged ambulances to be on standby 24/7 at Quan Lan, and has also increased the number of specialized emergency boats to transport patients at sea.

Emergency medical assistance was provided to a tourist suspected of suffering a stroke while visiting Quan Lan Island.
In addition, the unit regularly organizes training and drills on maritime and island emergency response plans with the participation of various forces to improve coordination and handling of emergency situations.
The case of the tourist demonstrates that investing in standardized equipment, establishing effective coordination procedures, and maintaining regular drills have significantly shortened the time it takes to reach, transport, and treat patients.
For cases of stroke, heart attack, or severe injury, effectively utilizing the "golden hour" is crucial to the patient's chances of survival and recovery.
