Stuck in the elevator
In the morning of 7.6, Ms. Dang Thanh Ngoc (residing in Xuan Dinh Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi) said that while moving from the 4th floor to the 1st floor by elevator, the power suddenly went out.
“About 10 o'clock, when I entered the elevator, I was moving down when I suddenly saw the elevator in darkness. Having an unexpected problem, I panicked, asked for help but got no response. I phoned the building manager and about 45 minutes later the elevator rescuer arrived. And after about 15 minutes, I got out. To this day, I'm still scared," Ngoc recalls.
At the place where Ms. Ngoc lives, there was no notice of a power cut on June 7.6, but the power outage still happened unexpectedly, causing people's lives to be turned upside down.
In the same building with Ms. Ngoc, Mr. Cuong, a worker, said that as soon as he went to sleep after his night shift, he woke up because of the heat due to a sudden power failure. “I thought there was a problem in my room, but when I asked, I was told that the whole area had an unexpected power cut. It's so hot that even adults can't stand it, let alone children. If you cut it suddenly like this, people will suffer a lot," said Mr. Cuong.
Similar to Ms. Ngoc, Ms. Kim Anh, an office worker at IPH building (Dich Vong Hau Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi) was also stuck in the elevator due to a sudden power failure.
“Even though I was only stuck in the elevator at the company for a short time, it created an obsession for me. Every time I step into the elevator, I am very scared, I don't know if I will encounter that incident again or not when the power cut in the past few days is unexpected and unannounced, "said Kim Anh.
A rescue worker, repairing an elevator said that in the past few days, the schedule of rotating power cuts, even unexpected power outages in Hanoi, made the situation of people stuck in elevators common. “In the morning, I run continuously around Cau Giay District and the surrounding area. When I received a call for help from people, I had to move from one location to another, not to mention the work was in progress, so the time people had to wait was quite long, "said this employee.
“Not in time to turn back” because of an unexpected power cut
While preparing lunch, suddenly the electricity went out, Ms. Hoang Thi Ha Giang (residing in Dich Vong Hau Ward, Cau Giay District) thought she would jump the circuit breaker, but when she checked, she knew she had cut off the power. “If we cut off the power according to the schedule, we will be able to prepare, over here suddenly cut off, no one has time to react. Moreover, at the right time to eat and drink, take a lunch break, when it's hot, at least there must be electricity for people to live," reflected Ms. Giang.
As noted, at noon on 7.6, in the area of Cau Giay District, the cafes were crowded, crowded with students studying, there were packed cafes, no seats left. Due to the large number of students, some shops are overloaded.
Sitting to study with a group of friends at a convenience store on Xuan Thuy Street (Cau Giay District), Nguyen Phuong Anh (22 years old), a student of Hanoi National University of Education, said that she had to find a way to go to convenience stores and cafes near the hostel to study and avoid the heat.
“This is the peak time for students to study for exams. My dorm room is normally small, this morning there was a sudden power outage, so convenience stores and cafes are the best choice to both avoid the heat and study for the exam. However, I had to arrive early to have a place, the power went out, so people went to these places very crowded," Phuong Anh shared.
An employee at a convenience store said that due to the hot sun, the number of customers was crowded, but when there was a rotational power cut in each area, customers linger longer, even recently the store was overloaded, the customer service area was packed with seats.
