Recently, the pedestrian overpass in Hanoi has gradually become a gathering place for young people at night. The bridge is being used as a place for entertainment, singing, and even drinking, gambling… causing disorder and affecting pedestrians on the overpass.
The pedestrian overpass was built to create favorable and safe conditions for pedestrians when moving through areas with complex traffic on major roads in Hanoi. However, recently, the overpass has become a gathering place for young people to have fun, eat, drink and party.
In recent days, pedestrian overpasses have been crowded with people. Overpasses have become a gathering place for young people to eat and drink, affecting people moving across the bridge.
Despite signs prohibiting gatherings and selling goods, many people still carelessly go to the overpass to party all night.
According to Dan Viet reporters, on the pedestrian overpass at Mai Dich intersection on Ho Tung Mau street (Cau Giay district, Hanoi), many people gathered, spread mats and sat across the entire bridge to eat, drink, and play cards.
Many groups even brought cards to the overpass to play.
Not only playing cards, many people consider the pedestrian overpass as their home, bringing karaoke speakers, food, and beer onto the overpass to have fun and drink.
Le Khang (Cau Giay) said: “Sitting in the room was stuffy and uncomfortable, so I invited my friends to go to the overpass to walk and sit for some fresh air. After sitting for a while doing nothing, we told each other to go buy food, beer, and come back to get a speaker to sing for fun.”
The entire space of the overpass is occupied.
Pedestrians fumbled to find a way to walk on the overpass because young people were sitting and occupying the entire walkway.
Not only did they sit on the bridge, they also sat on both sides of the stairs going up and down.
The use of pedestrian overpasses as gathering places occurs in many places in the capital, such as: the overpass in the area of the People's Security Academy (Ha Dong district), Trieu Khuc overpass (Thanh Xuan district), and the overpass on Ho Tung Mau street (Cau Giay district).
As the night went on, more and more people gathered on the overpass.
After every outing or gathering, the bridge and footbridge are filled with garbage.
