TPO – After nearly a year of construction, two steel overpasses at Mai Dich intersection are rushing to complete the final items. According to the traffic organization plan between Thang Long Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport - investor) and Hanoi Department of Transport, the bridge will be completed before March 1 and put into use from April 31.
To facilitate the construction of the final items, including asphalt concrete mats for the bridge deck, installation of median strips..., over the past week, the entire Mai Dich overpass has banned and restricted certain types of vehicles from going up. |
By the end of last week, the Mai Dich - Thanh Xuan steel overpass lane had been paved with asphalt concrete on the bridge deck. |
Two steel overpass plaintiffs on both sides of the existing Mai Dich overpass have been formed. |
Over the weekend, construction workers took advantage of the time to reduce traffic to carpet the bridge deck and two up and down ramps. |
However, due to the high volume of vehicle traffic, especially trucks and passenger cars, on the elevated road, many times the erection of fences to slope up and down has caused congestion on Pham Hung Road and elevated Ring Road 3. |
After the bridge deck and up and down slopes in the Pham Hung - Pham Van Dong direction were carpeted, according to the expected channel separation plan, the construction unit installed barriers to limit vehicle height across the steel overpass; Pedestrians, cyclists, and rudimentary vehicles are prohibited from entering the bridge. |
Underneath the steel overpass, sidewalks and traffic islands are also renewed. The clearance level for vehicles passing under the steel overpass is controlled at a height of less than 3,5 meters. |
After the steel overpass opens to traffic and comes into use, the Mai Dich overpass from 4 lanes wide to 6 lanes is expected to reduce long-standing congestion at Ring Road 3 and Mai Dich intersection. |
The two plaintiffs of Mai Dich steel overpass started construction in May 5.
In addition to the task of separating the flow of cars and motorbikes to reduce conflicts and traffic congestion, the steel overpass also helps exploit the elevated Ring Road 3 section through Mai Dich intersection according to expressway standards.
The project has an investment of over 344 billion VND, Thang Long Project Management Board, Ministry of Transport is the investor, construction schedule 5/2023 - 3/2024.
