After the completion of the 10th grade entrance exam, localities immediately began the grading process to announce the results as soon as possible, while also preparing facilities and personnel for the high school graduation exam.
More than 20 provinces and cities have announced the results of the entrance exams for 10th grade in non-specialized and specialized high schools.
In Hanoi , according to the Department of Education and Training's plan, exam results and cut-off scores will be announced simultaneously between July 4th and 6th. This is a locality with a large number of exam papers, so the grading process is longer and more arduous.
The examiners will work diligently, strictly, and according to procedures, ensuring fairness, objectivity, and protecting the rights of the candidates.
From June 9th to 22nd, the grading committee of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will grade the multiple-choice exams. From June 11th to 22nd, the committee will grade the essay exams.
After the exam results are announced, schools will return the application documents and exam results slips for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year to students.
Candidates who are still concerned about their exam results can submit an appeal for a re-evaluation, and the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the appeal results as soon as possible so that candidates can enroll in school in time.
This year's 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi has over 102,000 candidates. This represents 64% of the enrollment quota for public high schools (equivalent to approximately 80,000 students).
The remaining students included those who had proactively chosen to attend public schools or vocational training beforehand, while others had worked hard for many years, yearning to secure a place in a public school but ultimately failed.

In Hanoi, according to the plan of the Department of Education and Training, exam results and cut-off scores will be announced simultaneously between July 4th and 6th. |
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, a teacher at a junior high school in Hanoi who has been a homeroom teacher for 9th grade for many years, shared that after the exam ended, she held an online meeting to ask her students about their performance. Besides those who boasted about doing well, there were also those who regretted not performing as well as they should have or made mistakes on certain questions. During the period leading up to the announcement of results and cut-off scores, she anxiously awaited good news from her students.
"Previously, she encouraged the students a lot, but when it came time to announce the results, she usually let the students take the initiative, not daring to ask too many questions for fear that those with low scores would be discouraged. Exams are always like that; some students get high scores and get accepted into all their choices, while others get low scores and fail all their choices or only get accepted into their second or third choice," Ms. Ha said.
According to the teacher, for 9th-grade students, at the age of 15, they are still immature, so failing the 10th-grade entrance exam can be psychologically shocking for some. This is especially true for those who are doing well academically, whose families have high expectations and pressure. These students themselves set goals to get into good schools, and if their aspirations aren't met, they become very sad, cry, and withdraw. Every year, while congratulating the students who passed, the teacher also sends messages and calls to encourage those who weren't so lucky.
Consider option 2
Ms. Thuy Duong, residing in Duong Noi ward, Ha Dong district (Hanoi), said that her child's first choice is Le Quy Don High School (Hanoi). Last year, this school had one of the highest admission scores in Hanoi, so both mother and child felt a lot of pressure.
Ms. Duong's solution to mitigate the shock was to place her second choice school at a location about 5-6 points away from her first choice, in order to increase her chances of being admitted to a public school. In addition, she also purchased application forms and paid a deposit of 2 million VND to a private school so her child wouldn't be left without a place to study.
"What worried me was that my child was doing well in school, so I had high hopes of getting into Le Quy Don High School. After the exam, I kept encouraging her, saying the results didn't matter, but if she failed, she would definitely be very sad," Ms. Duong said.
Ms. To Thi Hai Yen, Principal of Giang Vo Secondary School (Hanoi), said that before her 9th-grade students graduated, she advised them to be confident and self-assured before the upcoming exams and the results. Everyone wants to succeed, everyone hopes to have their wishes fulfilled, but reality is not always like that.
Throughout their studies, parents and teachers have witnessed and understood the perseverance and effort that students have put in. However, not every student is talented, successful, or achieves their aspirations. Therefore, it is important to accept this reality and choose a different path for personal development.
According to teachers, when the results come out but the child unfortunately fails, parents and students, although saddened, should accept it. Parents should not criticize or compare their child to those who passed, as this is also something the child desired but did not achieve. On the other hand, parents should consider choosing the next path for their child, whether it's attending a private school or vocational training. Parents should also ask for their child's opinion before making a decision and thoroughly research the facilities, teaching methods, tuition fees, distance from home to school, etc., of the school they intend to enroll their child in.
