Take care of the meritorious fully and promptly

For many years, Dak Lak province has always paid attention to and done well the work of gratitude and considered it a responsibility and gratitude to previous generations who sacrificed their blood and bones for today's peace and independence.

Reporter had a discussion with Deputy Director of Dak Lak Department of Home Affairs LE DUC TINH about this content.

♦ Sir, as a central, regular, and consistent political task, how has the work of gratitude and care for policy families and meritorious people in Dak Lak province been implemented?

In the first 6 months of 2025, the province has well implemented the policies and preferential regimes of the Party and State for people with revolutionary contributions according to regulations; the work of receiving dossiers and resolving policies and regimes has been carried out fully and promptly. Currently, the whole Dak Lak province is paying monthly preferential allowances to over 18,000 people with revolutionary contributions and their relatives, with a payment budget of nearly 54 billion VND/month. Families with revolutionary contributions all have a standard of living equal to or higher than the average income of the local population and 100% of communes and wards do a good job of taking care of people with revolutionary contributions.

♦ Besides the support policies of the Party and State, how has the active participation of social organizations, businesses and the community contributed to spreading the work of gratitude, sir?

Over the past year, the province has mobilized nearly 14 billion VND from the Gratitude Fund. From there, it has supported people with meritorious services to repair and upgrade 66 Gratitude houses, worth nearly 1.5 billion VND; built 79 Gratitude houses, worth nearly 4 billion VND; donated 101 savings books, worth 83 million VND; supported people with meritorious services and their relatives who are sick, ill and facing difficulties in life, with 73 million VND. Some localities have allocated funds from the Gratitude Fund to repair and upgrade works honoring martyrs in their localities.

In addition to the central and provincial funding sources, the Gratitude Fund at all levels also implements the Project to support people with revolutionary contributions in housing in Dak Lak province in 2025 according to Decree No. 131/2021/ND-CP, dated December 30, 2021 of the Government and Decision No. 21/2024/QD-TTg, dated November 22, 2024 of the Prime Minister , with a total of 607/608 households, reaching a rate of 99.84%.

The movements to repay gratitude, care for and support Vietnamese Heroic Mothers have been enthusiastically responded to by agencies and units in the province. Up to now, 100% of living Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (53 Mothers) have been supported and cared for by units for life; 100% of meritorious people enjoy preferential treatment in medical examination and treatment, provision of orthopedic devices, nursing, health care, etc.

♦ The 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day this year takes place in the context of the whole country implementing two-level local government, so sir, how has the province implemented the work of gratitude to ensure it is always timely and complete?

Caring for policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to the revolution is identified by the province as one of the key, regular and long-term political tasks. Therefore, in 2025, in the context of "running and queuing at the same time", this work is especially focused on, cared for, and proactively and synchronously implemented by Dak Lak province from the grassroots level, ensuring timely and complete care for policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services. In particular, the eastern region of the province (formerly Phu Yen province) has completed the organization of visiting and giving gifts to policy families before July.

Along with that, many key activities are being implemented by the province such as: promoting gratitude activities; organizing gift giving to policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services to the revolution, relatives of martyrs; organizing incense offering, flower offering, candle lighting ceremonies at martyrs' cemeteries at provincial and communal levels; organizing delegations of meritorious people to attend meetings with meritorious people and historical witnesses in the capital Hanoi...

Activities to care for people with meritorious services are carried out by Dak Lak province through many forms such as: fully and promptly implementing preferential regimes and policies for people with meritorious services to the revolution according to the provisions of law; improving living conditions for people with meritorious services such as supporting funding for house construction and repair; providing medical care; creating conditions for loans to develop production; giving savings books; supporting medical treatment costs; supporting vocational training and creating jobs for children of policy families; organizing to send people with meritorious services to concentrated health rehabilitation centers...

The dissemination of the morality of “When drinking water, remember its source” has contributed to improving the material and spiritual life of those who have contributed; at the same time, educating the tradition of patriotism, enhancing the responsibility of the community, especially among the young generation, towards the previous generations who sacrificed their blood and bones for the peace and independence of the nation.
