Mr. Y Eli Bkrong paints on loofah and designs costumes from loofah. |
He said that fashion products made from loofah are modern and environmentally friendly, but only have one natural color of loofah. He has painted natural landscapes and flowers on products such as bags and hats made from loofah. |
With his ingenuity and creativity, the Ede man personally cut and sewed each piece of loofah together to serve the painting. This created a novelty for the product. When participating in exhibitions and fairs, the product attracted the attention of many domestic and foreign customers. |
According to him, painting on a loofah requires meticulousness and patience, because the surface is rough. Painting on this surface is not as sharp as painting on canvas or paper, and adjustment is also difficult. |
Up to now, Mr. Y Eli has painted hundreds of paintings on loofah fiber background focusing on traditional cultural features, most of which have been sold to France for about several million VND/painting. |
His paintings often originate from special moments he has captured, or from photos of the country and people he has collected, incorporating his personal touch into the work. |
In addition to painting, Y Eli also impressed with her unique loofah costume designs. The rough loofah pieces are combined with 20% silk and 80% loofah to create softness and reduce roughness when worn. The unique loofah costume with 3 short layers symbolizes lotus petals. |
The long layer below was decorated by Mr. Y Eli with 5 paintings depicting everyday moments such as: Sister holding her younger sibling, two sisters picking lotus, boy playing flute on buffalo back, mother selling goods on the street, grandmother looking after grandchildren. He used a brush to draw the images and then sprayed a layer of paint to protect the color. |
In addition, hundreds of sparkling plastic stones are attached to the skirt to create highlights. This outfit took him nearly a month to complete, inspired by Mother Au Co. |
Y Eli Bkrong wants to introduce the identities and beautiful traditional cultures of the Vietnamese people to friends at home and abroad. |
