The young man became a university teaching assistant at the age of 22.

Huynh Nguyen Vinh (22 years old), a teaching assistant in the Department of International Business and Trade at the Foreign Trade University (Ho Chi Minh City campus), is not only handsome but also has an excellent academic record.

Vinh is a member of the Pacific Links Foundation (USA), a non- governmental organization, where he teaches English to children.

In early October 2023, Vinh graduated with honors, achieving a GPA of 3.96/4 and becoming the valedictorian of the 58th graduating class, majoring in International Economics at the Foreign Trade University. Afterward, Vinh was retained by the university as a teaching assistant in the International Business and Trade department. While a student at Binh Son High School (Quang Ngai province), Vinh won a silver medal in the 2017 national Violympic Math competition (an online math competition). After becoming a student at the Foreign Trade University, Vinh continued to achieve many outstanding academic results and actively participated in extracurricular activities, such as: receiving the "Excellent Student" award at the Ho Chi Minh City level in 2022; and receiving academic achievement scholarships for six consecutive semesters at the Foreign Trade University.

“Becoming a teaching assistant at such a young age presented many challenges. This position requires a lot of knowledge and skills. I also learned from the lecturers to improve myself,” Vinh said. Besides the difficulties, Vinh noted some advantages, such as being the same age as the students, making it easier to understand their psychology and behavior in handling academic-related issues.

Teaching English to children

In addition to being a teaching assistant at the university, Vinh has also been a volunteer for the Pacific Links Foundation, teaching English to children, for eight years.

“I support middle school students from eight central provinces (Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang , Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen) and the Mekong Delta provinces. Due to difficult family circumstances and their immature age, these children have been lured into labor export or are at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking,” Vinh said. Having an IELTS 7.0 certificate, Vinh's English proficiency isn't a major issue in teaching these children.
