Eel porridge being included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage is false news. This is confirmed in Document No. 3466 signed by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong. This document is sent to the Central Propaganda Department, Ministry of Public Security , Ministry of Information and Communications, requesting to handle distorted and untrue information. Accordingly, on social networks, a photo of a document is being circulated that is said to be "Decision No. 3737/QD-BVHTTDL dated August 9, 2024 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on including eel porridge in the list of national intangible cultural heritage of folk knowledge for Nghe An province". This is a fake document.

Also according to Document 3466, on August 9, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued decisions to announce the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for 15 heritage records. Including: Nam Dinh Pho Folk Knowledge, Nam Dinh Province; Quang Noodle Folk Knowledge, Quang Nam Province; Hanoi Pho Folk Knowledge, Hanoi City. The above decisions were positively responded to by the People's Committees of provinces, cities, and the communities representing the heritage, as a measure to encourage the community to continue to preserve, maintain, practice and promote the quintessence of the profession.
However, on August 14, some Facebook accounts posted information that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a document announcing that eel porridge from Nghe An province was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that "this is distorted and untrue information, negatively affecting the reputation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Minister Nguyen Van Hung personally."

Regarding this false information, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Information and Communications to verify the subject who forged documents of state management agencies and posted false information on social networks and handle them according to regulations.
