This fall, the country celebrates the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2. On this national holiday, looking back at historical moments, every citizen of Khanh Hoa cannot help but be proud of the revolutionary spirit and the strong development of their homeland after 80 years of national independence.

Memories of Independence Autumn

One early autumn day, when the whole country was looking forward to celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2, we had the opportunity to meet and listen to Mr. Le Van Thanh (Western Nha Trang ward) talk about the historic days of the revolutionary autumn of 1945 - the moment that changed the fate of the whole nation as well as his life. Growing up in the pain of losing the country, all three brothers of Mr. Thanh were enlightened about the revolution early on, participating in the demonstration to gain power in Dien Khanh. "Those days, the joyful and exciting atmosphere was everywhere. Everyone was happy because they had become citizens of an independent country, masters of their own destiny. Everyone, every household enthusiastically participated in the movements launched by the revolutionary government", Mr. Thanh was moved when mentioning the climax of the August Revolution in 1945, the atmosphere of the day the country gained independence.

After seizing power, the entire Party and people of Khanh Hoa embarked on the new tasks of the revolution, together with the people of the whole country, fighting to protect and build the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. In Mr. Thanh's memory, in 1945, Khanh Hoa was poor but very patriotic. Following the call of President Ho Chi Minh, the people in the province donated money and gold to the revolutionary government. According to the history of the Party Committee of Khanh Hoa province (old), after the uprising to seize power, the provincial treasury only had about 600,000 dong left, most of which was torn and unusable. But the revolutionary government did not give up, but relied on the people's strength to build the country. In those days, from rural to urban areas, rich and poor people enthusiastically participated in the "Independence Fund" and "Golden Week". Many people brought their most precious family heirlooms to contribute, the amount of contributed assets amounted to hundreds of taels of gold. In the southern region of Khanh Hoa province (formerly Ninh Thuan province), after the uprising to seize power on August 21, 1945, people also enthusiastically supported the revolution. Each family set up a rice jar to save the country to feed the army and relieve hunger in the North. People also supported the Viet Minh with tons of copper to bring to the military factory to cast weapons to protect the young independence of the Fatherland.

When the French colonialists returned to invade the South and plotted to send troops to the North, the army and people of Khanh Hoa, along with the troops advancing to the South, fought 101 days and nights to hold back the French invaders in Nha Trang; maintained smooth traffic to support the battlefield in the South. The resistance war with the spirit of "Determination to die for the Fatherland, determination to live" was praised by Uncle Ho in a letter. On January 6, 1946, the people of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan (old) together with the people of the whole country, for the first time, enthusiastically went to fulfill the sacred duty of citizens, going to the polling stations to elect representatives of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. From the beginning of 1946, implementing the policy of long-term resistance, revolutionary bases were also established in many places in the province. The spirit of all for the independence and unity of the country was continued by the Party Committee and People of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan (old) throughout the 30 years of resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism, contributing to the final victory in the spring of 1975, the country was unified, the country was reunited. The heroic history of the revolutionary movement in Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan (old) is still engraved.

Steady progress

After 1975, both Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan (old) had to face countless difficulties of the post-war and subsidy period. "Industrial production was almost non-existent, agriculture was fragmented and primitive, nearly 20,000 hectares of land were left fallow," the history of the Party Committee of Khanh Hoa province (old) clearly recorded. Until now, Mr. Nguyen Van Triet (Dong Ninh Hoa ward) still clearly remembers the image of the day he returned to his hometown in 1976, after more than 20 years away since the regrouping to the North. From Ninh Hoa, he had to walk to Hon Khoi. At that time, the entire Hon Khoi area had no electricity, only a few houses had radios, the lives of salt workers and fishermen were still very difficult; production tools were still very scarce. "After liberation, I became Secretary of the Party Committee of Ninh Diem commune, at that time, the lives of commune members were still miserable. It was not until the renovation that people's lives gradually improved," Mr. Triet said.

With the renovation, Khanh Hoa has begun to change. Step by step, modern roads have appeared: Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue, Pham Van Dong Street connecting with Tran Phu, creating a beautiful coastal route of Vietnam. New urban areas have sprung up to replace old fields and gardens. High-class hotels stretch along the coast. Famous tourist areas such as Vinpearl, Hon Tam and a system of modern commercial centers have created a new look for Nha Trang. In recent years, Khanh Hoa has maintained an impressive growth rate, the economic structure has shifted positively, infrastructure has been invested synchronously, the appearance of urban and rural areas has increasingly improved. In the southern area of ​​Khanh Hoa province (formerly Ninh Thuan), the economy has also gradually improved. Wind power and solar power fields have replaced the barren hillsides. The wild beaches and landscapes of the past have been replaced by famous tourist destinations with high-class resorts. “Strong sunshine, strong winds, and arid land - the things that made Ninh Thuan a poor land for centuries, have now become a rare source of strong modern development,” economic expert Tran Dinh Thien affirmed.

Assessing the development of the province, comrade Nghiem Xuan Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee said: "In the period of 2020 - 2025, the economy of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan (old) is in the high growth group of the whole country. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction; budget revenue has grown by double digits". Over the past 5 years, strategic infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, has been invested synchronously and modernly. Many expressways have been invested in and put into use such as: Nha Trang - Cam Lam and Cam Lam - Vinh Hao, Van Phong - Nha Trang, along with many other key traffic routes being deployed such as Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway phase 1 and coastal routes, inter-regional roads... contributing to increasing the ability to connect dynamic regions, develop logistics and marine economy. Urban infrastructure and urban development have created many outstanding marks, many large-scale investment projects have been approved in principle; Economic growth is increasingly closely linked with sustainable development, progress and social equity; the material and spiritual life of the people of the two provinces is gradually improved; the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with more than 3,500 houses for poor and near-poor households and policy families in the area was completed ahead of schedule.

Aspiration to reach new heights

After the merger and reorganization, the development space of Khanh Hoa province has been expanded. The abundant and rich resources are a great advantage for Khanh Hoa to accelerate economic development, especially the marine economy. The potentials and advantages of each land and each locality in the province are resonated and maximized, complementing each other. The combination of two economies and cultures with many similarities will create richness and diversity in the industry structure, create a comprehensive and expanded chain of links, and promote new growth drivers. According to economic experts, Khanh Hoa has many advantages to become a centrally-governed city by 2030, becoming a high growth pole of the country.

To realize the development aspiration, the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 01 on double-digit economic growth in the period of 2025 - 2030 with the goal of soon turning Khanh Hoa into a centrally-run city by 2030. The Resolution sets out 4 specific goals with tasks and solutions, focusing on 4 pillars of economic growth (industry; energy; services, tourism; urban areas) and clearing 3 bottlenecks and bottlenecks to create growth momentum for the province's economy.

Comrade Tran Quoc Nam - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation said: To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Khanh Hoa has simultaneously started 4 major projects in the fields of industry, urban areas, and education. Currently, the province is speeding up the progress of implementing the construction steps of the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant Projects and component projects; building a number of special mechanisms and policies applicable to the province to successfully implement the projects. It is expected that by 2031, when the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plants are put into operation, the province will have an additional 4,800 MW of clean energy. In addition, the province also focuses on developing tourism, logistics services, and digital economy in the direction of strong innovation and digital transformation, towards green growth. The entire political system, businesses and people in the province are determined to turn potential into reality, turning Khanh Hoa into a centrally-run city by 2030, bringing the people a high, peaceful and happy life.
