New school for children in mountainous areas.

March 19th became a memorable milestone for the Gie Trieng people when UNIQLO Vietnam, in collaboration with the Hope Foundation, held the inauguration and handover ceremony of the Phuoc Cong 2 village school, part of Phuoc Chanh Kindergarten (Phuoc Chanh commune).

Phuoc Cong 2 school branch previously served as a learning place for approximately 50 preschool children, mainly from the Gie Trieng ethnic minority. Built in 2013, the building, with its three classrooms, is in serious disrepair and no longer ensures safety during teaching and learning. The lack of facilities, including a kitchen, prevents the school from providing lunch, affecting student care and maintaining enrollment numbers.

In response to this situation, UNIQLO Vietnam partnered with the Hope Foundation to build a new school site comprising 3 classrooms, 2 teacher's rooms, and a kitchen area, with a total funding of 2 billion VND.

Mr. Akiyama Naoki, General Director of UNIQLO Vietnam, shared that UNIQLO, a Japanese company, is always committed to supporting the community, especially in the field of education in areas with limited infrastructure. New schools and safe, well-equipped classrooms will help students feel secure attending classes, nurture their dreams, and open up more opportunities in life.

During its 7 years of operation in Vietnam, UNIQLO has partnered with the Hope Foundation to implement many meaningful community projects, focusing on building and improving school facilities in disadvantaged areas.

Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh, Principal of Phuoc Chanh Kindergarten, shared that this handover of the building is a long-awaited dream of the teachers and students. "Having a new, safe classroom not only meets the learning needs but also brings joy and peace of mind to both teachers and students. Many parents traveled long distances through the forest and arrived very early to witness the inauguration ceremony, expressing their joy and excitement that their children will be studying in a spacious and modern school," Ms. Oanh said.

Supporting disadvantaged children

The atmosphere at Dong Phu Kindergarten (Que Son commune) became lively and filled with joy as teachers and students warmly welcomed the volunteer group from the Happy People organization (South Korea). This marks the beginning of a journey of connection, sharing, and creating meaningful changes for children in disadvantaged areas.

During their three-day visit to the school, the volunteers from South Korea improved the school's facilities and participated in community-building activities. They repainted the school gate and classrooms, giving the school a more presentable appearance. In addition, the group donated many meaningful gifts to the school and its students.

The lively performances, group games, and interactive activities helped the children become more confident, while also creating unforgettable memories and contributing to fostering an optimistic and enthusiastic spirit towards school.

Ms. Phung Thi Huong Lan, Principal of Dong Phu Kindergarten, shared that the school is located in a disadvantaged area, so all support activities are of great significance. The partnership with international charitable organizations not only improves learning conditions and facilities but also adds joy, confidence, and motivation for students to attend school.

Also in Que Son commune, the Giving It Back to Kids organization, in coordination with the Da Nang Charity and Child Protection Association, donated 20 bicycles to disadvantaged students.

Mr. Do Dinh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Que Son commune, shared that through the connection of international organizations, the program provides local students with practical resources, further motivating them to enthusiastically attend school. The radiant joy on the children's faces when receiving the bicycles is vivid proof of the widespread impact of charitable activities and sharing with children in disadvantaged areas.

At the Da Nang City Red Cross Society, the 2026 scholarship awarding ceremony was recently held, sponsored by the Children Above All-Aid organization from Sweden. The program awarded 52 scholarships to disadvantaged students in the city, with a total value of over 202 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Red Cross Society, said that the scholarships were formed from the sharing and care of families in Sweden, aiming to provide long-term support for the children from primary school until graduation and stable employment.

Tran Ai Nhi (from An Thang ward) shared: "This is the third year I've received this scholarship. My family still faces many difficulties, so the care and support from the benefactors in Switzerland is a great encouragement, helping me to study hard and keep my dreams alive for the future."

Mr. Tran Hong Phuc, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Charity and Child Protection Association, said that practical support such as scholarships, transportation, school supplies, and improved facilities not only help children access education more easily but also motivate them to overcome difficulties and continue their studies. This support also has long-term significance, instilling confidence, nurturing dreams, and helping children develop a spirit of striving towards a bright future.
