Manchester United are placing high hopes on young talent Chido Obi, who is seen as a key part of manager Ruben Amorim's plans for the 2025/26 season.

The 17-year-old Danish forward joined the "Red Devils" from Arsenal last summer and made eight appearances for the first team last season, although he didn't score any official goals. However, his impressive performance and two goals in a recent friendly in Hong Kong have earned Obi significant points in the eyes of the coaching staff.

According to The Athletic , the Manchester United youth team coaching staff has been instructed not to use Chido Obi frequently so that he can focus entirely on the first team. The striker, born in 2007, has been given the number 32 shirt, previously worn by Carlos Tevez, replacing his old number 46, a clear sign of his increasing status at Old Trafford.

Notably, Obi showed a significant improvement in his physique during the summer, giving him more confidence when facing physically strong defenders in the Premier League. Coach Amorim also offered specific words of encouragement, urging his favorite pupil to remain humble and continue to strive in every training session.

Obi will have the opportunity to showcase his talent in pre-season friendlies, starting with the match against Leeds in Stockholm this Saturday, before joining the rest of the team in the US to face West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton. With his current form and the trust from the coaching staff, Chido Obi promises to be a breakout star for Man Utd in the new season.
