Amidst the scorching heat, youth union members from many communes in the province went to the fields to help farmers plant rice and harvest their crops. The families receiving assistance were all single-parent households facing particularly difficult circumstances. For example, the Youth Union of Quang Kim commune (Bat Xat district) coordinated with the family of Youth Union member Hoang Van Khanh (Lang Pan village) to harvest 5 sao (approximately 0.5 hectares) of winter-spring rice. Youth Union member Hoang Van Khanh is currently serving in the military , leaving only his mother at home. Similarly, 20 youth union members from Ban Lien commune (Bac Ha district) coordinated with police, military, and the Women's Union to help the family of Youth Union member Lam Thi Dan (Doi 2 village) plant rice; and the Youth Union of Thai Nien commune (Bao Thang district) helped single-parent households harvest rice...
Besides volunteering to help people harvest crops, youth union branches at all levels have also simultaneously implemented many activities such as supporting students during exam season, providing community health care, donating blood, participating in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas...
Recently, the blue volunteer uniforms of 20 youth union members from Ban Cai commune (Bac Ha district) left a deep impression on the people of Lang Cu village, Ban Cai commune, as they personally constructed and erected 34 streetlights, bringing light to this disadvantaged rural area. The project, spanning 1.2 km and costing 40 million VND, was funded through social contributions and the labor of local youth union members. The completed project contributes to the construction of new rural areas and ensures security and order in the locality.
During the launching ceremony of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, a series of meaningful projects and activities were also implemented: Bat Xat District Youth Union coordinated with the Youth Union of the 345th Economic -Defense Brigade to transport construction materials for one school and one "happy house" worth 530 million VND; Si Ma Cai District Youth Union supported Thao Chu Phin village, Thao Chu Phin commune, in demolishing three temporary houses and coordinated with the Lao Cai Connection Club to donate more than 70,000 cinnamon saplings to people in Thao Chu Phin and Sin Cheng communes.
The "heart" of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is the enthusiastic and creative youth union members who contribute their youthful energy to all activities. Sung Quang Hung (Bac Ha District Youth Union) is one of the energetic, enthusiastic, and creative youth union officials. During the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, he and local youth union members participated in many volunteer activities such as guiding tourists , coordinating traffic flow during the traditional Bac Ha horse racing festival; coordinating the installation of street lighting along the border in Si Ma Cai commune (Si Ma Cai district), giving gifts to disadvantaged children in the commune; supporting students during exams, and giving gifts to ethnic minority students in the area...

The summer youth volunteer campaign was launched by the Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union of the province at the end of May. The campaign includes one program and four sub-campaigns: the Exam Support Program; and the "Green Summer," "Red Phoenix Flower," "Pink Holiday," and "Green March" campaigns. The campaign concludes in August 2024. The Provincial Youth Union directs the implementation of the campaign according to target groups, primarily through concentrated teams combined with local youth volunteers; mobilizing young people to participate in the socio-economic development tasks of the locality, addressing new and difficult issues with creative and meaningful volunteer models such as exam support, community health care, voluntary blood donation, gratitude and repayment activities, building new rural areas, and civilized urban areas...
After one month of launching the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, youth union branches at all levels have implemented 1 provincial-level youth project worth 80 million VND; 11 district-level youth projects worth 845 million VND; and 25 grassroots-level youth projects with a total value of 228 million VND. 68 teams with 2,410 young volunteers have carried out 7 projects with a total value of 335 million VND in activities participating in building new rural areas; 20 volunteer teams have implemented 2 projects building civilized urban areas with a total value of 70 million VND; 74 volunteer teams with 1,637 union members and young people have participated in environmental protection activities; and 24 teams with 771 volunteers have participated in activities ensuring traffic order and safety. In addition, many meaningful social welfare activities have been implemented, bringing material and spiritual value to the people; organizing summer activities, creative experiential activities, and Children's Day celebrations.
Ms. Giang Thi Mai, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: "The new feature of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is that it will be implemented earlier and on a larger scale, creating a wider impact. With the motto that summer volunteer activities must be practical, focusing on disadvantaged areas, ethnic minorities, and border regions with activities such as community health care, supporting young people in starting businesses, and digital transformation... The campaign has been effectively implemented by all levels of the Youth Union, has a wide reach, is suitable to the local situation, and has been well received by the people."
