This information was shared by Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan - President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning - in her speech commemorating the 16th anniversary of the Association's founding (October 2, 2008 - October 2, 2024).
Accordingly, to implement the "Nationwide Emulation Movement to Build a Learning Society in the period 2023-2030" launched by the Prime Minister on June 10, 2023, the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning has launched the emulation movement "Every citizen learns independently and throughout their lives for sustainable development in the digital transformation era" through the implementation of the "Learning Citizen" model.
The Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning will hold a preliminary review of this movement in December of this year.
At the same time, the Association began researching a "Green Education Promotion" strategy targeting workers aged 16 to 44 to provide a more focused and targeted approach in carrying out its tasks, in line with the demands of the current reality.

Over 28 years of operation, and 16 years since October 2nd was designated by the Prime Minister as "Vietnam's National Day for Promoting Learning," the Vietnam Association for Promoting Learning has successfully fulfilled its mission of promoting learning and talent, and building a learning society.
The "Vietnamese Talent, Self-Learning Success" award, the "Learning Never Ends" scholarship, and most recently the "Promoting Learning - Journey of Knowledge" program on national television have become trademarks of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning over the years.
Every year, the Central Committee of the Association collaborates with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and universities to organize major seminars on topics relevant to their respective fields.
These workshops serve as the basis for the Ministry of Education and Training to submit to the Prime Minister a proposal to launch the movement "Nationwide emulation in building a learning society in the period 2023 - 2030".
Seventy-five years after President Ho Chi Minh issued his call for patriotic emulation to "eradicate ignorance" on June 11, 1948, we now have a nationwide emulation movement to "eradicate ignorance" in the digital age.
"The picture of promoting learning and talent is becoming increasingly vibrant, supplemented with many strokes that reflect the cultural identity of a patriotic, united, studious nation that always aspires to overcome ignorance in any circumstances," Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan remarked.
Over the five years of implementing Conclusion No. 49 of the Party Central Committee and Directive No. 11 of the Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership over the work of promoting learning and talent development and building a learning society, one of the great achievements of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning is the successful implementation of five learning models: "Learning Family", "Learning Clan", "Learning Community", "Learning Unit", and "Learning Citizen".

The successful development and implementation of these learning models have contributed to fostering a tradition of studiousness and lifelong learning among the working people, laying the foundation for building a learning society in each locality, and contributing to the cultivation of human resources to serve the socio-economic development of the country.
In particular, the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning has developed the Scholarship Fund in a socially oriented direction and awarded scholarships to millions of studious students, university students, and adults.
Many appropriate forms of soliciting support for education and talent promotion have been flexibly applied by provincial and city education promotion associations, such as mobilizing civil servants and workers to donate one day's salary to education promotion.
The northern mountainous provinces and the Red River Delta have implemented fundraising campaigns such as "Raising pigs for educational purposes" and "Raising chickens for educational purposes".
Thanh Hoa and other provinces in the North Central region have been organizing "Education Promotion Tet" at the beginning of the Lunar New Year and "Scholarship Fundraising" in September every year since 2008.
Ho Chi Minh City and several southern provinces have implemented a program called "Saving money in piggy banks for education" to raise funds for family scholarships. Over the past five years, Ho Chi Minh City has collected nearly 6 million piggy banks and donated over 159 billion VND to scholarship funds at all levels.
Speaking at a meeting on Vietnam's National Education Promotion Day, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said: "We are gradually building an open education system, an education outside of the school system, and this requires the participation, support, and cooperation of the entire community."
In the context of fundamental and comprehensive educational reform, human development in line with globalization and the knowledge explosion, the need for lifelong learning, post-school and extracurricular learning is growing ever larger. Therefore, the role of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning is becoming increasingly important.
Minister Nguyen Kim Son also noted that in the process of promoting learning and talent development and building a learning society, more caution is needed to ensure that learning is promoted without promoting the obsession with achievements, and talent is promoted without fostering vanity.
On October 2nd, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning, in collaboration with the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group, launched the "Vietnamese Talent" award for 2025 with the theme "Honoring Talent - Inspiring Creativity".
This is the 19th year the award has been held to discover, honor, and encourage talented individuals and groups in various fields of social life; individuals who are self-taught, self-researching, and have initiatives and innovations that contribute to the development of the locality and the country, helping to improve human resources and meet the requirements and tasks of national digital transformation.
