The "old wine in poison" trick.

On Sunday morning, in the kitchen still smelling faintly of smoke, Mr. and Mrs. Tinh busied themselves preparing a family meal, while their grandson, Vinh, whom his parents had "sent" to help them, was glued to his phone. Suddenly, Vinh shouted, startling Mr. Tinh:

Báo Quân đội Nhân dânBáo Quân đội Nhân dân24/03/2026

- Grandma and Grandpa, this is chaos!

Mr. Tinh frowned:

- What's all this commotion? Hurry up and help Grandma and Grandpa clean the dishes!

Vinh came over, showed his phone to his grandfather, and chattered incessantly:

- Here you go, sir, all the latest breaking news. Clashes, fires, car accidents... are happening constantly. Netizens are complaining about the government's poor management. I'm sharing this so everyone can be aware and avoid such unfortunate incidents!

- You're up to your old habit of acting before thinking, aren't you?

- You're always suspicious of everything. These days, news is updated every second, with real photos. Besides, the person who posted the news has tens of thousands of followers, it's not some fake account!

Seeing his grandson was "young and inexperienced," Mr. Tinh said sternly:

- My child is glued to their phone and is completely uninformed, unable to distinguish between truth and falsehood. A few days ago, the television news warned about this kind of information. Many malicious individuals are deliberately using software to edit videos and images from old incidents, adding AI (artificial intelligence) voiceovers, and then creating misleading headlines, making it seem as if the events just happened.

Oh really... Why would they bother rehashing old information then?

- This isn't just cheap "clickbait," but a classic "old wine in poison" tactic employed by hostile forces and political opportunists. They deliberately pick up old, unresolved negative incidents and piece them together to paint a bleak picture of a society rife with instability. A segment of the population, driven by curiosity and gullibility like myself, has become a "magazine" disseminating this information, causing public panic and impacting security and order. Their ultimate goal is to tarnish the image of our country, erode public trust in the leadership of the Party and State, and undermine the management capabilities of local authorities and law enforcement agencies. This is a tactic within the "peaceful evolution" strategy of hostile forces!

- I thought that sharing this information was a good deed, helping people avoid such incidents.

- You want to do good but lack knowledge, unable to distinguish between true and false information, and sharing it with others is actually aiding and abetting wrongdoing, my child! The Cybersecurity Law clearly stipulates that the act of disseminating fake news or false information that causes public panic will be severely punished, even criminally prosecuted!

- I understand now and will delete my posts immediately. From now on, I will be as vigilant and alert as you, so that I won't be deceived or fall into the trap of bad people.

Mr. Tinh nodded in satisfaction:

- The internet is virtual, but the consequences are real. When receiving information, you must be alert and know how to "separate the wheat from the chaff"! Okay, let's get back to work before Grandma criticizes us for just chatting...
