The Tax Department ( Ministry of Finance ) stated that recently, information appeared on Facebook about some people receiving envelopes from the Tax Department via express delivery (SPX) requesting payment of 80,000 VND. However, upon opening them, the recipients reported that they only contained photocopies of official government documents.
In this case, the Tax Department asserts that the envelopes and documents inside were not issued by the Department or any other tax-related units. The type of envelope shown in the image circulating online is not the standard used in the tax authority's system.
The Tax Department is providing this information to the public so they can be aware, take precautions, and promptly notify the nearest authorities if they are contacted by individuals demanding payment for delivery services. The agency also advises citizens to be vigilant, refrain from making payments if they encounter similar situations, and report it immediately to the nearest authorities.
The agency also requested that post offices and shipping companies, upon receiving envelopes with unusual markings, cooperate in providing information to verify and clarify any fraudulent activity.

A post that garnered thousands of interactions related to receiving a tax notice (Screenshot).
Previously, in a social media group with hundreds of thousands of members, a user posted that they received a tax notice via postal service, with payment of 80,000 VND. The user stated that when the postal worker opened it, they found a photocopied document inside.
This person then asked the postal worker to return it to the original post office, and also posted images and the story online to warn other internet users about the scam.
