Proactive response to the intensified cold front from the night of March 2nd to March 3rd.

On the afternoon of March 2nd, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense issued a document requesting provinces in Northern Vietnam and coastal areas from Quang Ninh to Quang Ngai to proactively respond to the cold front and other dangerous weather phenomena.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from March 3rd, a cold front will bring cold weather to Northern Vietnam, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An , with temperatures generally ranging from 15 to 18 degrees Celsius, and in mountainous areas, temperatures may drop below 14 degrees Celsius. From the night of March 2nd, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience strong northeast winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8; the northern part of the East Sea will have winds of force 6-7, gusting to force 8-9. From the night of March 3rd, the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will experience wind gusts of force 7-8.

At the same time, from the night of March 2nd to March 3rd, the Northern and Central regions of Vietnam will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and hail.

To proactively respond, the Steering Committee requests that localities closely monitor weather forecasts and promptly inform local authorities and the public to take proactive preventive measures. Units should have on-site forces ready to provide timely support in mitigating consequences if necessary.

Specifically, coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Quang Ngai need to inform captains and owners of vessels operating at sea about the strong wind developments so that they can proactively plan for safe production; maintain regular communication to promptly handle adverse situations. Local authorities must organize serious duty shifts and report regularly to the Steering Committee through the Department of Dike Management and Disaster Prevention and Control.
