Leaders of Bac Ninh city and the provincial Irrigation Department inspected the dike guarding work at Dau Han watchtower.
Van An drainage pumping station (Yen Phong KTCTTL Enterprise) consists of 4 units, with a flow rate of 18,000 m3/unit/hour, with the task of draining water for a basin of 3,800 hectares. To meet the requirements of the task, the pumping station was invested by Bac Duong KTCTTL One Member Co., Ltd. to repair the automatic garbage collection system and pump No. 4 before May 31, ensuring 100% of pumps and engines operate well. Due to the impact of heavy rains in recent days, the amount of water flowing into the pumping station's suction tank is 1 to 1.3 m higher than the safe level, while many spring rice areas in localities in the basin have not been harvested yet and are at risk of reduced productivity if not pumped and drained in time.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Head of Van An Irrigation Cluster said: “Implementing the direction of Yen Phong Irrigation Enterprise and the flood and storm prevention and control plan of Bac Duong Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd., immediately after the heavy rains, the Cluster regularly mobilized 2-3 pumping units, assigning 50% of workers to work 2 shifts/day to operate the pumps to drain water from the fields to the river. Thanks to flexible and timely operation, the entire unharvested spring rice area of localities in the basin, estimated at about 2,000 hectares, was safely protected. Currently, the water level at the pumping station's suction tank is maintained at a safe level.”
Hoa Long Ward (Bac Ninh City) has 7 km of dike running through Cau River. Immediately after the Provincial People's Committee issued the first warning on Cau River (1:30 p.m. on June 22, 2025), the Ward's Flood and Storm Prevention and Control Command Committee organized a permanent force to strictly guard at all dike guard posts. Mr. Nguyen Cong Thiet, Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, said: "According to the instructions of the specialized agency, when the flood on the river is at level 1 warning at each guard post, the ward arranges 2-4 people on duty, 4-6 people for level 2 warning, and 6-8 people for level 3 warning. In addition to the reserve materials of the province and city, the ward has fully prepared materials, vehicles, drinking water... at the dike guard posts to serve the guard force."
According to the report of the Irrigation Department (Department of Agriculture and Environment), from June 20 to now, there have been several heavy rains in the province with an average total flow of 120-130 mm, causing flooding in some areas of spring rice that have not been harvested. Previously, due to the influence of heavy rains upstream, the Cau River experienced the first major flood of the season, reaching alert level 2 at Phuc Loc Phuong station at 7:00 a.m. on June 23.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung, Deputy Head of the Irrigation Sub-Department, said: Although it has not caused any damage to the dike system or spring crop production in the localities, the floods have caused some erosion on the river slope from km24 500 to km25 700 of the Duong dike in Tien Du district, causing flooding in many areas of spring rice that have not been harvested. To proactively respond and minimize damage caused by floods, the Irrigation Sub-Department advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue two flood warning telegrams on the Cau River to direct localities and units to deploy measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, and the safety of the dike, embankment and culvert systems in the province. Requesting the two KTCTTL Bac Duong and Nam Duong One Member Co., Ltd. to mobilize more than 100 pumps at many large drainage pumping stations to operate drainage according to the established plan and scheme, and directing the Dike Management Departments to carry out patrolling and guarding work to closely monitor the progress of the dikes and possible incidents to promptly propose handling measures.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the coming days, the flood situation will continue to develop abnormally, with the risk of flooding for production and threatening the safety of the dike system. To effectively respond to natural disasters, all levels, sectors and localities need to prepare sufficient human and material resources, with the motto "4 on-site", continue to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts of natural disasters, weather, timely, complete and regular notifications and instructions for people to proactively prevent and avoid. Organize forces to guard, patrol, control and guide to ensure safe traffic for people and vehicles, especially in low-lying areas, railway overpasses, and water collection manholes. Check and review key works, pay attention to dike, irrigation, disaster prevention and control works that had incidents during the September 2024 flood and other key works to have response plans to ensure the safety of works when floods occur.
