Tuan Dao Commune rewards two brave militiamen for rescuing people in flood

Earlier, in the early morning of August 21, heavy rains and flash floods occurred in Tuan Dao commune, causing flooding and landslides in many areas, including Linh Phu village. From early morning, the Party Committee and government quickly assisted people to avoid the flood.

At around 7am, Ms. Lanh Thi Hong Huong and her 2-year-old daughter were trapped in their flooded house; the door was locked so they could not get out. Ms. Huong tried every way to contact relatives and neighbors for help.

Faced with a dangerous situation, under the direction of the leaders of the Military Command and the Commune Police, Mr. Tuyen and Mr. Giang bravely swam across the rushing water, broke the door, and took turns bringing Ms. Huong and her children out safely.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen shared: The flood came so suddenly and rose high from early morning. Receiving information from superiors, my only thought was how to quickly reach Ms. Huong's house and save her and her child from the dangerous area. In that situation, everyone acted the same. I am very glad that both of them are safe.

It is known that Mr. Tuyen and Mr. Giang are both exemplary militia soldiers with many achievements in local training.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son, Chairman of Tuan Dao Commune People's Committee, said that the flood on August 21 caused severe damage in Tuan Dao. The traffic system in 6 villages (Am Ha, Mung, Nam Bong, Dong Bao Tuan, Tuan Son, Dong Me) was cut off; many traffic works, schools, and cultural houses were eroded; electricity and communication were interrupted. More than 100 households were deeply flooded; about 40 hectares of rice, corn, aquatic products, forestry trees and many other valuable assets were damaged.

During the difficult time, the commune received the attention, sharing and encouragement of the provincial leaders and people of neighboring localities. The Commune's Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue proactively deployed response measures with the 4-on-the-spot motto. The brave actions of the two militiamen are a shining example, demonstrating the sense of responsibility in natural disaster prevention and control; at the same time spreading the tradition of solidarity and humanity in the community.

In recognition of their bravery, the Commune People's Committee rewarded the two men and called on the people to promote the spirit of mutual love and support, work together to overcome the consequences, and soon stabilize their lives.
