Bringing Bac Ninh identity to the Exhibition "80 years of Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness"

BAC NINH - The exhibition "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" will take place at the National Exhibition Fair Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi) from August 28 to September 5. Participating in the exhibition, the exhibition space of Bac Ninh province with the theme "Bac Ninh - a thousand years of culture - Aspiration to rise in the new era" was designed by painter, People's Artist Nguyen Dat Tang.

With a modern style, rich in artistic creativity, the author has turned the exhibition space into a visual highlight, telling the story of history, culture and aspirations of the Kinh Bac - Bac Ninh land. In the midst of urgent work, painter, People's Artist Nguyen Dat Tang still took time to share with reporters of Bac Ninh Newspaper and Radio and Television about the idea and exhibition space.

Dear painter, People's Artist Dat Tang, when you took on the design of Bac Ninh's exhibition space at a meaningful event such as the exhibition of the country's achievements in celebration of the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2, how did you feel?

Painter, People's Artist Dat Tang: With a special affection for Bac Ninh for so long, I was very happy to receive an invitation from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh to consult on the design of the province's exhibition space on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. However, this is also a difficult and challenging task. In the context of a major national event, a gathering place for 34 provinces, cities and agencies and organizations, how to design a unique, different and impressive space, both expressing the artistry and exuding the main ideology of Bac Ninh province is what I was concerned about before taking on this job.

Hopefully, when entering the exhibition space of Bac Ninh province, the public will have unique and different experiences, immerse themselves in the unique cultural flow, and at the same time clearly feel the dynamic and outstanding development of a rich and prosperous industrial center" - Painter, People's Artist Nguyen Dat Tang.

The overall theme of the exhibition booth is "Bac Ninh - a thousand years of culture - Aspiration to rise in the new era". How did you develop this theme?

Painter, People's Artist Dat Tang: Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac is a land with a long history, rich cultural identity and a tradition of civilization and revolution. Based on the cultural foundation left by our ancestors, Bac Ninh province is one of the leading provinces in the country in terms of economic scale, aiming to become the high-tech center of the country. Therefore, my design goal is to build an exhibition space that is modern and general but still includes traditional cultural elements. Using a modern design language but still exuding cultural identity through symbolic and conventional images.

So in the design process, what typical values ​​of Bac Ninh homeland did the artist select and highlight?

Painter, People's Artist Dat Tang: The image of the conical hat is stylized in a modern style, forming circles running high in the central area of ​​the exhibition space and below is the Cau River. Through these images, I want to tell the story of the long-standing Quan Ho cultural heritage, which is a cultural characteristic of the Kinh Bac region, along with the Cau River - a place that witnessed the ups and downs of history and the origin of the nation through deep sediments. The area that ends the exhibition is the image of a phoenix spreading its large wings to cover the entire space, expressing profound artistic ideas, symbolizing the aspiration to break out of Bac Ninh in the new era.

When conveying Bac Ninh's identity into the limited framework of the exhibition space, did you encounter any obstacles?

Painter, People's Artist Dat Tang: The Italian genius painter, Leonardo Da Vinci once said very profoundly: "Simplicity is the pinnacle of sophistication". The exhibition space of Bac Ninh province this time is designed in a modern, concise style but still carries profound thoughts through stylized cultural images on a modern space foundation. Therefore, how to make the public understand cultural values ​​and be attracted in a completely modern space without being bored is what I think about the most. To realize that idea, first of all is my love and admiration for the land and people of Bac Ninh. Next, based on the reality and goals of Bac Ninh province in the future, from there I can refine and form the idea.

Approaching the design model, we see a subtle combination of technological blue and soft curves. Is this an intention to connect the elements of "traditional culture" and "modern thinking"? Can the artist share more about the layout ideas and special highlights of the exhibition space?

Painter, People's Artist Dat Tang: The overall exhibition space has a modern, impressive and magnificent beauty with an area of ​​345 m², located on a 3-level foundation consisting of 6 zigzag sections with Led walls facing the center according to specific themes: Bac Ninh in the flow of national history; achievements in politics; economy; science - technology; culture - society and national defense - security; dynamic, creative and aspiring Bac Ninh people.

The exhibition area is designed in a modern style, open space, applying advanced projection technology such as LED screen, LED mesh, VRA360 combined with lighting effects with colors that emphasize vision. Projection technology and smart narration create a new and attractive experience for visitors.

The highlight is the central area with the main idea of ​​simulating the image of the Cau River with an interactive LED screen, moving with an automatic rotating sand table, connecting the two cultural banks. The roof above is stylized from the image of a conical hat with a diameter of 10m. At the end of the exhibition area is the image of a phoenix wing on a 25m panoramic LED screen to display tourism promotion, introduce outstanding achievements and typical events of the province, thereby affirming the position of Bac Ninh in the 80-year journey of accompanying the nation.

From a personal creative perspective, what is the message that the artist wants to send to the public through the exhibition space "Bac Ninh - a thousand years of culture - Aspiration to rise in the new era"?

Painter, People's Artist Dat Tang: The exhibition space is not simply a normal art stage but a synthesis of artistic techniques, both ensuring accuracy in content and summarizing, honoring and highlighting the achievements of the homeland and country. During the decades of artistic activities, there have been few occasions that have left me with special and profound emotions like this time. Bac Ninh is a land rich in historical and cultural traditions with loyal people that I admire very much. Hopefully, when entering the exhibition space of Bac Ninh province, the public will have unique and different experiences, be immersed in a unique cultural flow, clearly feel the dynamic and outstanding development of a rich and prosperous industrial center.
