President Luong Cuong meets with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid

On September 24 local time, in New York, President Luong Cuong met with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid within the framework of attending the High-level General Debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, combined with bilateral activities in the United States.

In a friendly and sincere atmosphere, the two leaders highly appreciated the development of the long-standing traditional friendship between Vietnam and Iraq.

President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Iraq, especially in the fields of economics , trade, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange.

President Luong Cuong proposed that the two sides increase delegation exchanges, especially business delegations, to seek cooperation opportunities in potential fields as well as increase access to the Halal market.

The President also expressed his hope that Iraq will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in fields suitable to Iraq's needs in the process of rebuilding the country.

President Abdul Latif Rashid expressed his admiration for the achievements that Vietnam has made in national construction and development; emphasized that Iraq considers Vietnam an important partner and expressed his desire to promote cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, water resource management, agriculture , and infrastructure construction to serve the reconstruction process in Iraq.

The two sides agreed to promote the improvement of the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between the two sides, and at the same time study the establishment of new mechanisms as well as sign new agreements in potential fields.

On this occasion, the two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation and support each other at multilateral forums.

President Luong Cuong respectfully invited Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid to visit Vietnam and attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi (October 25-26, 2025).
