VIC shares break out, pulling VN-Index up to nearly 1,670 points

The market today (September 25) increased strongly towards the end of the session with support from large-cap stocks, in which VIC increased by 6%, contributing nearly 8.5 points to the VN-Index.

At the close of today's trading session, the VN-Index rose 8.63 points (0.52%) to 1,666.09 points. The HNX-Index increased 0.37 points (0.13%) to 277.65 points, and the UPCoM-Index added 0.84 points (0.77%) to 110.49 points.

Total market liquidity reached over 1.1 billion shares, equivalent to 30,345 billion VND. Of this, liquidity on the HoSE reached over 27,800 billion VND.

VIC became a highlight, rising 6% to VND 158,000 per share, contributing nearly 8.5 points to the VN-Index. Additionally, VHM, BSR , VCB, LPB, and VJC also supported the index. Conversely, VPB fell 2.1% to VND 30,950 per share, acting as the main drag.

Notably, in today's trading session, foreign investors sold heavily, with a net selling value of 2,200 billion VND across the entire market.

Specifically, on the HoSE exchange, foreign investors sold a net 2,062 billion VND. VPB was the stock most heavily sold by foreign investors, with 260 billion VND. Following closely behind wereFPT and SSI shares, which were sold for 228 billion VND and 213 billion VND respectively.

On the buying side, VIC shares were the most heavily bought by foreign investors on HOSE, with a value of over 102 billion VND.

On the HNX, foreign investors sold a net 141 billion VND. SHS was the stock under the most selling pressure from foreign investors, with a value of nearly 107 billion VND; followed by CEO, IDC, and NTP, which were sold for between 9-13 billion VND.

On UPCOM, foreign investors made net purchases of 3 billion VND. Of that, HNG saw net selling of 0.6 billion VND by foreign investors. Foreign investors also made net sales of MCH, ACV, etc.

Stock groups in today's trading session also showed clear divergence. The real estate sector recorded gains with stocks such as SCR increasing 6.1% to 10,200 VND/share, followed by HPX (+2.9%), TCH (+2.3%), NLG (+2.2%),... However, many stocks also decreased in price such as LDG down 1.7%, CEO lost 1.1%,...

Similarly, the banking sector saw gains in stocks such as PGB (up 3.1%), BVB (+1.4%), LPB (+1.1%),... and losses in stocks such as MSB,ACB , TPB, KLB, VIB, and VPB (down 1-2%).

Earlier in the morning session, the VN-Index rose 0.44 points (0.03%) to 1,657.9 points. The HNX-Index increased 2.07 points (0.75%) to 279.35 points, and the UPCoM-Index added 0.95 points (0.87%) to reach 110.6 points.
