The visit took place at the invitation of the General Secretary and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith.
Accompanying President Luong Cuong on the visit were: Mr. Do Van Chien, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Political Bureau, Minister of National Defense; and General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Political Bureau, Minister of Public Security .
The delegation also included Mr. Le Minh Tri, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; and Mr. Le Khanh Hai, Head of the Office of the President.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, also accompanied the delegation.
This is the first state visit to Laos by President Luong Cuong, demonstrating Vietnam's high regard and priority for Laos and the determination of the leaders of the two Parties and two countries to promote the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
With a determination to vigorously implement high-level agreements, President Luong Cuong's visit to Laos is of paramount importance, further demonstrating the consistent commitment of the Vietnamese Party and State to the Lao State and the special Vietnam-Laos relationship.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity to reaffirm that Vietnam considers Laos one of its top priorities in implementing its foreign policy, and to affirm Vietnam's strong support for the reform process in Laos. This is also a concrete activity to strengthen the close and particularly intimate relationship between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries.
