President Vo Van Thuong and Mongolian President meet the press after talks

On the afternoon of November 1, the official welcoming ceremony for President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and his wife was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace according to the protocol reserved for heads of state. Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders led high-ranking delegations of the two countries to hold talks. Immediately after the talks, President Vo Van Thuong and Mongolian President Khurelsukh met with the press to inform them about the results of the talks.

Speaking at the press conference, President Vo Van Thuong assessed that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia is developing well, achieving many new achievements in recent times, especially in the fields of politics , defense, security and economy. The President said that during the talks, the two sides agreed on many important measures to develop the relationship between the two countries more deeply, practically and effectively in the coming time.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to promote the goal of doubling bilateral trade turnover in the coming years. The two sides welcomed the signing of the Agreement on visa exemption for citizens of the two countries, contributing to expanding trade, tourism and people-to-people exchange cooperation; agreed to continue to create conditions and protect the legitimate rights of citizens of the two countries to live, study and work in the other country, and promote the role of a bridge to promote the Vietnam - Mongolia friendship.

The President expressed his belief that with the political determination of senior leaders and the consensus of the people of the two countries, on the basis of the good traditional friendship, in the coming time, the Vietnam-Mongolia relationship will continue to be consolidated and developed, towards establishing a new framework of relations, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

President Vo Van Thuong thanked President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh for inviting the President to visit Mongolia and the President happily accepted the invitation.

Informing the press, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh sincerely thanked President Vo Van Thuong and the Vietnamese people for the warm, sincere and thoughtful reception they gave him and his delegation. Recalling the traditional friendship between the two countries, the Mongolian President recalled the historical period in which the Mongolian Government and people launched a nationwide movement to protest against the war of aggression against Vietnam; and donated to support the Vietnamese people in their struggle for independence and freedom for the Fatherland.

Sharing the joy of visiting Vietnam, the thousand-year-old cultural and beautiful Thang Long - Hanoi, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh was pleased to see that, on the long-standing historical foundation, the relationship between the two countries has been constantly strengthened and developed.

“Inheriting and promoting the legacy of friendly cooperation and the fine brotherly tradition between the two countries is our honor, pride and responsibility to continue writing the golden pages of the next 70 years of bilateral relations,” the Mongolian President emphasized.

President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh expressed his hope that this State visit to Vietnam will contribute to creating important momentum and determining directions and measures to promote the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Previously, President Vo Van Thuong and the President of Mongolia witnessed the signing of cooperation documents between ministries and branches of the two countries, including: Agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of Mongolia on visa exemption for diplomatic passports, official passports, and ordinary passports; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice and the Interior of Mongolia on information exchange and cooperation in immigration management; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice and the Interior of Mongolia on cooperation in preventing and combating transnational drug crimes; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Office of the National Security Council of Mongolia; Memorandum of Understanding between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Office of the National Security Council of Mongolia on cooperation in strategic research; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia on sustainable rice trade.
