According to statistics, Vietnam is currently one of Malaysia's leading tourist markets in Southeast Asia. In the first 6 months of the year, there were nearly 170,000 Vietnamese visitors to Malaysia. As of July 2025, there are 164 flights per week connecting major cities in Vietnam with key destinations in Malaysia, with a total capacity of nearly 30,000 seats. These figures clearly reflect the strong tourism demand and untapped potential between the two countries.

In the opposite direction, Vietnam welcomed 266 thousand Malaysian visitors, making Malaysia the second largest ASEAN tourist market of Vietnam.

“These figures demonstrate the mutual interest and respect between the two countries as ideal tourist destinations. Today’s event is a symbol of a strategic, future-oriented partnership between two countries that play a key role in the ASEAN tourism industry, with the common goal of connecting our countries and people through tourism and culture towards sustainable development,” said Datuk Manoharan Periasamy.

At the ceremony, representatives of the two units signed a cooperation agreement. The cooperation includes: coordinating the development and implementation of communication campaigns, organizing promotional events, market research programs and promoting tourism between the two countries.

Malaysia pledged to continue promoting tourism activities in Vietnam. In the coming time, the country will carry out activities connecting businesses (B2B) and consumers (B2C) in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In parallel, Malaysia is promoting long-term programs such as "Malaysia - Second Home", along with the "Visit Malaysia 2026" campaign, as an open invitation to Vietnamese tourists.
