National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, along with five other leaders and former leaders of the National Assembly and agencies of the Vietnamese National Assembly, received prestigious medals and decorations from the State of Cuba.
On the evening of September 27, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presided over the welcoming ceremony and held a meeting with Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernandez.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue shared his fond impressions and cherished memories of the warm and respectful feelings that the leaders and brothers of Cuba, and the President of the Cuban National Assembly, extended to the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation during their official visit to Cuba last April.

Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernandez also expressed his deep gratitude that the National Assembly President had shortened his foreign work trip to arrange time to receive the delegation, demonstrating the close brotherly and comradely affection they share.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly shared that during his time in Vietnam, directly visiting places where leader Fidel Castro had once been, he deeply felt the admiration of the Vietnamese people for Fidel Castro and their affection for the Cuban people.

Sharing about the difficulties and challenges Cuba is facing, such as the embargo, the impact of climate change, rising prices, and declining production, the President of the Cuban National Assembly expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Party and State would continue to support and stand alongside the Cuban Party and State in overcoming this difficult period.
Vietnam has affirmed its position as the largest investor in the Asia- Pacific region in Cuba. The President of the Cuban National Assembly welcomed the presence of Vietnamese businesses in Cuba to implement projects in tourism, agriculture, energy, and retail. Increasingly, more Vietnamese businesses are exploring investment and business opportunities in Cuba.
He expressed his hope that the two countries would further strengthen cooperation in various fields, especially trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, goods exports, and biotechnology.
The Speaker of the National Assembly requested that Cuba finalize its legal framework and regulations to create favorable conditions and provide flexible, preferential mechanisms for Vietnamese businesses to invest in Cuba.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that Vietnam is ready to stand alongside Cuba and share experiences in the process of national development. Vietnam highly values the cooperation and support proposals from high-ranking Cuban leaders and will do its utmost to promote concrete measures that are appropriate to Cuba's needs and Vietnam's conditions.
Vietnam attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with Cuba to further deepen and develop the exemplary and loyal relationship between the two Parties and States. Vietnam understands and shares Cuba's difficulties, and is ready to cooperate with Cuba to overcome them, especially in the economic and social fields.
The Speaker of the National Assembly suggested that both sides should leverage the potential and conditions of each country, identifying key areas of cooperation such as: agriculture, aquaculture, biotechnology, healthcare, import-substituting consumer goods production, tourism infrastructure development, hotel management, and construction materials…
The two countries cooperate in multilateral forums and support each other's positions on regional and international issues.
Regarding agricultural cooperation, Vietnam continues to pay attention to and maintain a stable supply of rice to Cuba; and continues to support Cuba in improving its production capacity through cooperation projects in rice, corn, and aquaculture production.
Regarding medical cooperation, the Speaker of the National Assembly suggested that Cuba promote cooperation in cancer treatment, cerebrovascular intervention, and organ transplantation; cooperation in research and technology transfer for the production of Covid-19 vaccines, and technology transfer for pharmaceutical formulations, etc.
Regarding cooperation between the two Parliaments, Vietnam is pleased with the development of good relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries, with high-level visits opening up important cooperation opportunities and bringing the relationship between the two Parliaments to a deeper and more effective level.
The Vietnamese National Assembly is ready to welcome more delegations from the Cuban National Assembly to visit, share, and exchange experiences.
The two leaders exchanged views on the direction and measures for cooperation between the two countries and their respective parliaments, and agreed to promote effective coordination between the relevant agencies of both sides.
The Vietnamese National Assembly welcomes the proposal from the Cuban National Assembly to hold the first inter-parliamentary conference between the Vietnamese and Cuban National Assemblies, tentatively scheduled for April 2024.
On the evening of September 27, Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernandez awarded the Carlos Manuel de Cesesspespeedes Order to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, the Ana Betancour Order to former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan , and the Solidarity Order to Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and former Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly presented the Friendship Medal to the Vice President of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Tran Quang Phuong; the Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office, Bui Van Cuong; and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary Group, Vu Hai Ha.
Speaking at the award ceremony, on behalf of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the current and former leaders of the National Assembly receiving the medals and decorations, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectfully thanked the Party and State of Cuba.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stated that commemorating the 50th anniversary of leader Fidel Castro's historic visit to the liberated areas of South Vietnam is an opportunity to honor the fraternal solidarity and the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
