Preparing for the 16th National Assembly and People's Council elections at all levels.

On the afternoon of December 15th, at the National Assembly building, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Election Council, presided over the 4th session of the National Election Council.

Speaking at the session, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that preparations for the election are proceeding very urgently and actively, adhering closely to the legally prescribed procedures.

According to the Chairman of the National Assembly, the upcoming election for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils for the 2026-2031 term is taking place in the context of the political system and local government apparatus being continuously consolidated and reorganized in accordance with the Central Committee's resolutions. Several models of urban and local government organization have been reformed and improved. This places very high demands on the quality of election preparation, ensuring adherence to procedures and regulations, especially regarding personnel matters, which must be carried out according to the regulations of the competent authorities. The Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that the agencies are currently moving in the right direction in line with the Central Committee's directives.

The Chairman of the National Assembly also stated that, recently, with the synchronized and active involvement from the central to local levels, the election preparation progress has been rapid and solid, especially in finalizing documents, developing organizational plans, and drafting resolutions on electoral units. Personnel work has been prepared early, carefully, and according to proper procedures. This is a very important new point compared to the previous election. Security and order work has been prepared in a "proactive and remote" manner; the application of information technology has made significant progress, synchronized with population data...

At the meeting, the National Election Council reviewed and commented on the progress report on election preparations since the 3rd meeting of the National Election Council and some key tasks for the coming period; and adopted several resolutions on election work.

Later that afternoon, the Chairman of the National Assembly presided over a meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly to consider and decide on several issues related to the election process. The Standing Committee discussed and approved the first resolution adjusting the structure, composition, and number of candidates from central and local agencies, organizations, and units nominated for the 16th National Assembly; and the plan for monitoring and inspecting the election of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
