Longing for a sturdy bridge
The Da Ban River is located downstream of the Da Ban reservoir. The Hoa Huynh dam, connecting the two banks of this river, is in Hamlet 5, measuring 50 meters in length and approximately 2 meters in width. On the other side of the Da Ban River, over 150 households live; the area is used for agricultural production by over 300 households, covering approximately 500 hectares, primarily for growing sugarcane, rice, and some vegetables. In addition, there are thousands of hectares of forest land owned by residents, the government, and the Long Son Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 170 MWp. For many years, the Hoa Huynh dam has been a vital transportation route for hundreds of households.

Mr. Pham Minh Long, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Hoa commune, said that there is a great need for people to travel and transport goods and agricultural products across the Da Ban River. However, the Hoa Huynh dam is frequently flooded, causing difficulties for people and posing many safety risks. Especially during heavy rains combined with the Da Ban reservoir regulating water to prevent flooding, the downstream area is deeply flooded and completely cut off. The lack of a pedestrian bridge also hinders socio -economic development in the area.
Mr. Phan Van Thao, from Hamlet 5, said: “I have witnessed many cases of people slipping and falling while crossing the dam. Some even fell into the river, which is very dangerous. During the rainy season, the water flows rapidly, and people who want to cross to the other side of the river have to take a detour more than 5km upstream to a bridge. However, this bridge is only a temporary bridge, only suitable for bicycles and pedestrians. Many households, during harvest season, cannot cross the river to transport agricultural products because the dam is deeply submerged.”
Similarly, Mr. Dao Trung Ha, from Hamlet 5, stated that not only is it unsafe, but transporting agricultural products across the dam may not fulfill its intended function. Most worryingly, many students cross the dam to and from school, posing significant safety risks.
We will invest in building a bridge.
In light of this situation, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Hoa commune reported and proposed the investment plan for the construction of Da Ban bridge, which was approved by the Provincial People's Committee, which agreed to provide support from the provincial budget. The Provincial People's Committee requested the locality, relevant departments, and units to quickly complete the investment and construction procedures. The project has been included in the province's medium-term public investment plan for 2026-2030.
Mr. Pham Minh Long stated that the bridge will be built approximately 40 meters upstream from the Hoa Huynh dam. According to the design, the prestressed reinforced concrete bridge will be 70 meters long, consisting of three spans, with a 9-meter wide asphalt surface. At both ends of the bridge, access roads totaling 780 meters in length will be constructed, connecting Provincial Road 7 to the local people's production areas. Construction is expected to begin at the end of May 2026; the total investment is over 41 billion VND.
When the Da Ban bridge is completed and put into use, it will break the isolation, especially during the rainy season and floods; it will facilitate travel for the people, ensure traffic safety, and contribute to the circulation of goods and agricultural products in this area. This will also create conditions for Bac Ninh Hoa commune to complete its rural infrastructure, improve the lives of its people, and meet the requirements and tasks of building a new rural area.
