Acts of kindness and compassion
Every year, on July 27th, youth union members of Tam Xuan commune visit the home of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thu (Bich An village) to help clean the house, wipe down the altar for her children; renew the certificates of recognition from the Fatherland, commendations, medals, and decorations; and beautify the house grounds...
Ms. Tran Thi Hen, the daughter of Mother Thu, shared: “Not only were the youth union members from our commune enthusiastic and meticulous in every task, but they also kindly visited, chatted with, and encouraged Mother and her family. They constantly asked if the family needed any further assistance so they could lend a hand. The family felt very touched!”

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung, Secretary of the Tam Xuan Commune Youth Union, in addition to regularly caring for the "homes" of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and policy beneficiary families, this year the unit also coordinated with Naval Squadron 21 (Command of Coast Guard Region 2) to visit, give gifts, and provide support to Mother Nguyen Thi Thu and Mother Nguyen Thi Minh (both residing in Bich An village, Tam Xuan commune).
"Although this small contribution cannot fill the great void of loss and sacrifice, we hope that the mothers will always feel comforted and live happily, because today's young generation always understands," Hung said.

In Ban Thach ward, the Ward Youth Union organized visits, health check-ups, and provided medicine to 30 families of policy beneficiaries and war veterans. At the same time, they assigned youth union members to clean houses and gardens for 5 families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and policy beneficiary families.
Ms. Luong Thi Nhan, Secretary of the Ban Thach Ward Youth Union, shared: "Our constant presence by Mother Mary's side is not only a message of gratitude, but also a continuation and strong dissemination of the 'Drinking water, remembering the source' tradition among the younger generation through practical activities."
Implementing the "We are always by Mom's side" program launched by the City Youth Union, many local youth union branches also organized "Meals of Gratitude" at the homes of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families of policy beneficiaries, and people with meritorious contributions. These simple meals, yet filled with affection, connect generations.

According to Mr. Huynh Minh Phat, Secretary of the Tam Anh Commune Youth Union, the unit recently organized a "Meal of Gratitude" at the home of Ms. Huynh Thi Ruong (Hoa An village) – a revolutionary hero who participated in the resistance against the US. Her family is currently honoring Heroic Vietnamese Mother Le Thi Ho and martyr Do Minh Thang (Ms. Ruong's husband).
Mr. Phat said: “What remains in each of us after the program are the heroic memories of the generation that bravely fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation. It is a lesson in tradition, reminding us to strive to study and train ourselves to build an increasingly prosperous and beautiful homeland.”
Young people express gratitude.
According to Mr. Le Cong Hung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang city and Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, the youth of the entire city have extensively implemented many activities to express gratitude and remembrance with a sense of responsibility and deep appreciation for the generations of ancestors who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

A highlight in the series of activities to express gratitude is the "We Are Always By Your Side, Mom" program, which continues to be maintained and expanded throughout the city. This is a meaningful model, demonstrating the care and gratitude of the younger generation towards Vietnamese Heroic Mothers through activities such as visiting, providing healthcare, and assisting with daily life.
Mr. Le Cong Hung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City, Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union.
Anh Hung added that on this occasion, the Youth Union at all levels also organized many activities to educate about traditions such as: journeys to the source, digitizing data on martyrs and historical sites, and providing free medical examinations and treatment at home for people with meritorious services.
In particular, on the evening of July 26th, a candlelight vigil honoring fallen heroes will be held simultaneously at over 160 cemeteries and memorials throughout the city, with the enthusiastic participation of youth union members, young people, and the armed forces. These practical activities not only demonstrate gratitude but also contribute to nurturing revolutionary ideals, patriotism, and social responsibility in each youth union member and young person in the city.
