Join hands to solve the pressure of consumption market for Vietnamese goods

Exporting Vietnamese goods to regional markets

At the end of May 2023, a delegation of 33 Vietnamese enterprises accompanied the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises to participate in the international fair Thaifex Anuga Asia 2023 (Thaifex 2023) held in Bangkok, Thailand. Thereby, many international visitors were interested in Vietnamese products such as Tri Kien bean sauce, Spice chili sauce, Da Nang grilled coconut cake... because each product has local characteristics, shows the purity of local resources, has quality standards, especially the information on the packaging...

Ms. Vu Kim Anh, Deputy Director of the Center for Business Research and Enterprise Support (BSA), said that the products that Vietnamese enterprises brought showed that they met consumer tastes that focused on health, protecting resources and the environment, etc., so they attracted the attention of international visitors. Many enterprises have seized the opportunity to expand their customer network in the Asian region through a variety of market connection activities at this fair.

Moreover, some products of Vietnamese enterprises also have buyers who are willing to negotiate to buy in large quantities if they meet their conditions in the near future. Participating in Thaifex 2023 is also an opportunity for the Vietnamese business community to survey the market, new product trends, and existing machinery and technology in the food and beverage (F&B) industry, in addition to displaying, introducing products and promoting brands.

On the business side, Ms. Bui Thi Thu Ngan, General Director of DannyGreen Joint Stock Company, shared that grasping the trend of organic food as one of the trends of the food and beverage industry in Asia, the business introduced a rich product line from Vietnamese agricultural products when attending Thaifex 2023. Therefore, at the DannyGreen booth, it attracted the attention of partners and potential customers from countries and territories from the Middle East, the US, China, Malaysia, etc.

Mr. Pham Dinh Ngai, CEO & Founder of Sokfarm Coconut Nectar, said that in 2022, participating in Thaifex met many potential customers and partners, so this time the company continued to participate in Thaifex 2023 to develop new markets. Specifically, Sokfarm Coconut Nectar introduced two main product lines: concentrated coconut nectar and soy sauce from coconut nectar.

Regarding Vietnamese export goods, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Huy, in charge of the Vietnam Trade Office in Thailand, assessed that Vietnamese goods have not yet dominated the Thai market, although some Vietnamese industries and products are good enough, have acceptable quality and competitive prices, because the story about the origin of the products has not been focused on or even mentioned to customers. Vietnam has many regional specialties, including many products with geographical indications recognized by the world , so in communication and introduction, it is necessary to spread the story about the products, people, and land so that customers know clearly, who to sell to, how to sell...

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Huy believes that in the coming time, Vietnamese enterprises need to take advantage of every opportunity to tell the story of each enterprise’s precious raw material areas to create unique marks for their products. From there, enterprises can penetrate niche markets, create a unique identity, and make a mark for Vietnamese products in foreign markets.

In the domestic market, many retail systems in Ho Chi Minh City have also strengthened the connection between supply and demand, providing products from provinces and cities to consumers. Typically, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives ( Saigon Co.op ) has promoted the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in consuming Tay Ninh products with more than 20 production and business units of Tay Ninh specialties, including hundreds of items.

Through Saigon Co.op's retail system, Tay Ninh specialties will be quickly distributed to consumers nationwide. At the same time, Saigon Co.op and departments, branches and enterprises of Tay Ninh province will create a foundation to expand the product consumption connection activities into a regular coordination model, contributing to the formation of a diverse value chain linking production, distribution and sustainable consumption.

In addition, Saigon Co.op and Tay Ninh provincial departments and agencies also cooperate and mobilize enterprises operating in the fields of high-tech agriculture, food processing, and production and supply of local specialties with good products and advanced technology to join in expanding the business network. Towards this goal, Saigon Co.op will fully exploit the export bridge, which is the strategic partner NTUC FairPrice, to bring Tay Ninh specialties to the international market, not just serving the domestic market.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, General Director of Saigon Co.op and Chairman of the Vietnam Retailers Association, said that Saigon Co.op always prioritizes supporting the development of Vietnamese goods in its business activities. Since the beginning of 2023, Saigon Co.op has proactively cooperated with the People's Committees of provinces and cities to develop domestic supply chains and value chains.

This activity also effectively supports the planning of raw material sources, promoting local strengths according to the general economic planning of provinces, cities and the whole country. On the other hand, this is also a practical activity to develop regional specialties, a specific commitment of Saigon Co.op in increasing domestic product consumption; promoting the continuous improvement of commodity standards, towards a green economy, a circular economy.

On the local side, Mr. Duong Van Thang, Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee pointed out that the event of signing the contract to supply goods between Tay Ninh enterprises and production and business units with Saigon Co.op is the first step and in the coming time, it is necessary to spread the spirit and new production methods based on the application of high technology, towards the strategy of developing clean agriculture. The business community and retailers join hands to improve the productivity, quality and competitiveness of local products, which will contribute to Tay Ninh's efforts to become a locality applying high technology in agricultural production.
