On the afternoon of May 18th, in Bac Ninh province, the province, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), organized a meeting with Korea. Representing Quang Ninh province was Mr. Bui Van Khang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
In his opening remarks, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and South Korea is currently in a very positive stage of development. The two countries have become leading partners in many fields. In particular, cooperation in economics, trade, and investment is both a pillar and a driving force for the cooperative relationship. The "Meeting with Korea" program is an opportunity for localities in the northern region to introduce their socio-economic development and promote their investment environment to Korean partners and businesses; creating a new breakthrough in attracting foreign direct investment, especially from Korean businesses.
Within the framework of the program, delegates discussed and analyzed two groups of issues: Expanding investment, strengthening cooperation in supply chains and production chains, and Promoting cooperation for sustainable economic development.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Bui Van Khang, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, introduced some key aspects of the socio-economic development and potential strengths in attracting investment to Quang Ninh province. In particular, by identifying development pillars based on three factors – nature, people, and culture – Quang Ninh has systematically and comprehensively implemented solutions over the years to substantially improve the investment and business environment. Currently, Quang Ninh has the most modern and comprehensive transportation infrastructure system in the country. Policies supporting the business community and investors have also been implemented effectively and substantially. Quang Ninh is the only locality in the country to date that has led the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) for six consecutive years. Its reform indicators have also consistently ranked first nationwide for many years. Recently, the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, was approved by the Prime Minister. This creates very favorable conditions for investors to implement investment projects in the province. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also affirmed the consistent viewpoint of the entire political system of the province: to always support and create the most favorable conditions for Korean investors as well as all investors coming to invest in Quang Ninh.
On this occasion, authorized by the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Investment Promotion Support Board (IPA), in coordination with relevant departments and agencies, held a meeting with Korean businesses interested in exploring investment opportunities in Quang Ninh.
