On the afternoon of May 18, in Bac Ninh, Bac Ninh province coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) to organize a meeting with Korea. Attending the program were leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, representatives of 13 localities in the Northern region, and representatives of Vietnamese and Korean enterprises. On the side of Quang Ninh province, there was Mr. Bui Van Khang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
In his opening speech, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Korea is in a very good development stage. The two countries have become each other's leading important partners in many fields. In particular, economic, trade and investment cooperation is both a pillar and a driving force to promote the cooperative relationship. The Meet Korea program is an opportunity for localities in the Northern region to introduce their socio-economic development situation, promote the investment environment to Korean partners and enterprises; creating a new turning point in attracting foreign direct investment, especially Korean enterprises.
Within the framework of the program, delegates discussed and analyzed two groups of issues including: Expanding investment, promoting cooperation in supply chains and production chains, and promoting cooperation for sustainable economic development.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Bui Van Khang, Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, introduced some main features of the socio-economic development situation and the potentials and strengths in attracting investment in Quang Ninh province. In particular, with the identification of development pillars based on 3 factors of nature - people - culture, in recent years, Quang Ninh has systematically and synchronously implemented solutions to substantially improve the investment - business environment. Currently, Quang Ninh is the locality with the most synchronous and modern traffic infrastructure system in the country. Policies to support the business community and investors have also been implemented substantially and effectively. Quang Ninh is the only locality in the country to date to lead the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) for 6 consecutive years. Reform indexes have also continuously led the country for many consecutive years. Recently, the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, has been approved by the Prime Minister. This is a very favorable condition for investors to implement investment projects in the area. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also affirmed the consistent viewpoint of the entire political system of the province is to always accompany and create the most favorable conditions for Korean investors as well as all investors to invest in Quang Ninh.
On this occasion, authorized by the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Investment Promotion Support Board (IPA) presided over and coordinated with relevant departments and branches to work with Korean enterprises who wanted to learn about investment opportunities in Quang Ninh. At the meeting, the two sides exchanged and discussed mechanisms, policies as well as advantages in attracting investment in Quang Ninh province. At the same time, they answered questions from Korean enterprises in the process of researching and implementing investment projects in Quang Ninh on: Electricity development and orientation for developing electricity projects in the coming time; promotion activities related to renewable energy; general infrastructure development plan and support policies for electricity infrastructure for foreign investors; support for training high-quality human resources; development of educational infrastructure, promotion of extracurricular educational activities, innovation, start-ups; investment attraction in industrial parks; planning, attracting investment in real estate and social housing...
With the participation of over 500 delegates and a series of side events organized, the Meet Korea Program is an opportunity to continue promoting development cooperation between provinces/cities in the Northern region with Korean localities, agencies, organizations and enterprises in the coming time.
