The journey of overcoming oneself
As the eldest of three sisters, Hong Anh (32 years old, Lien Chieu Ward, Da Nang ) was born with osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease). Hong Anh's childhood was marked by the loss of her mother when she was only 7 years old, and her father later remarried. Her simple childhood dream of going to school like her friends was left unfulfilled because "no school would accept her, and there was no one to take her to and from school."
Hong Anh is only about 80cm tall and weighs less than 20kg, and relies entirely on a wheelchair for mobility. Unable to attend school like her peers, Hong Anh chose to stay home and study on her own.
Hong Anh shared that after many crossroads and sleepless nights searching for her path, she realized that a job involving computers was the right choice for her. This job allows her to manage her time independently, avoids commuting, and unleash her creativity.
"Hong Anh's Diary"
Despite having a certificate in hand, Hong Anh's fragile health and mobility difficulties made opportunities difficult to come by. It wasn't until 2023 that she experienced a significant turning point when she was accepted into a Japanese company in Da Nang, taking on the position of image editor.
Hong Anh's journey working at a foreign company has become an inspiration for many people with disabilities who are struggling to find their place in society.
Once she had a stable job and was gradually taking control of her life, Hong Anh didn't keep her story to herself. She opened a YouTube channel called "Hong Anh's Diary," as a way to document her life journey through the most ordinary things: her daily work routine, her honest thoughts, and simple glimpses of life. Each video is a small piece of the puzzle told with sincerity. And then, from these seemingly insignificant stories, many of her videos gradually touched the hearts of viewers, spreading widely and attracting hundreds of thousands of views, shares, and comments.
Many people who casually browse Hong Anh's Diary channel may not think they'll stay long, but the more they watch, the more they are drawn into the simple, unpretentious footage, quietly remaining captivated by the life story conveyed through the gentle yet powerful voice of this girl from Da Nang.
After nearly two years working for a Japanese company, facing increasing obstacles from shift work and commuting difficulties, Hong Anh decided to quit and pursue an independent career.
With the meager capital she had saved from her years of working, Hong Anh began dabbling in business, learning through online courses. She tried importing handbags to sell, then boldly ventured into livestreaming, gradually selling items such as snacks and incense on social media.
Not content with just selling online, Hong Anh also proactively goes out to sell her goods, both to make a living and to expand her real-life connections. For her, each encounter is another experience, another motivation to continue on the path she has chosen. Skillful and creative, Hong Anh also makes paper roses herself to sell during holidays, as a way to utilize her abilities and contribute to her independent lifestyle.
Miss Crescent Moon Vietnam
For Hong Anh, 2025 became a special milestone when she decided to participate in the Miss Crescent Moon Vietnam pageant. Having overcome the preliminary and semi-final rounds, she entered the national final – a journey that was not only challenging but also a profound dialogue with herself. Traveling alone nearly a thousand kilometers from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Anh carried with her determination and a burning desire to conquer the limitations that had once made her hesitant.

By participating in Miss Crescent Moon Vietnam 2025, she not only tells her own story of overcoming adversity but also carries with her the desire to contribute to creating positive changes for the disabled community.
Hong Anh believes that with appropriate support and fair treatment, people with disabilities can confidently integrate into society, work, and contribute value to it. She hopes to spread a message of resilience and call for collective efforts to build a compassionate environment where differences are respected.
According to artisan Nguyen Dinh Phuc, Head of the Organizing Committee of Miss Crescent Moon Vietnam 2025, although she did not reach the highest position, Hong Anh's journey still left a deep impression on the judges. From her courage in overcoming limitations and her resilient spirit to the positive energy she radiated, everything was appreciated.
Returning to her daily routine, in her familiar wheelchair, Hong Anh quietly maintains her regular live stream sales sessions. Spring sunshine streams through the window of her small rented room in a narrow alley, creating a warm and gentle atmosphere. In this peaceful moment, the young woman quietly weaves her life's dreams through whispered stories from her heart.
