According to the Korean Film Council, as of the afternoon of May 25th, the film had accumulated 2,000,005 viewers and surpassed 22 billion won (approximately $15 million) in revenue. This achievement makes Colony the fastest film to reach 2 million tickets sold in 2026, extending the impressive record-breaking streak the film has set since its release.
Set inside an apartment building under lockdown due to a mysterious epidemic, Colony follows survivors trapped amidst a horde of infected individuals evolving in unpredictable ways. Beyond its intense survival elements, the film is notable for its novel portrayal of mutated creatures and the suffocating atmosphere that lasts for over two hours.
Previously, Colony made a huge splash upon its global premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Since its release in South Korea, the film has consistently held the number one spot at the box office and quickly become a new cinematic phenomenon of the year.

Colony reached this milestone one day earlier than My Daughter is a Zombie - the film that previously held the title of the highest-grossing Korean film of 2025.
Audience feedback also contributed to the hype surrounding Colony. On film forums, many viewers praised the film's scale and dramatic intensity. Numerous opinions suggested that the film offered a fresher experience than even Train to Busan . Some viewers commented that the visuals of the infected creatures were realistic and terrifying, while the fast-paced narrative and sound design created a constant sense of tension. Many also appreciated the unexpected ending and how the film maintained suspense until the very end.
Currently, Colony shows no signs of slowing down as it continues to dominate the South Korean box office. Observers predict the film could soon conquer even more box office milestones in the near future.
