According to Dr. Nguyen Trong Hung, Head of the Nutrition Examination and Counseling Department at the National Institute of Nutrition, recent studies have also shown that glutinous rice wine can prevent many diseases. Researchers conducted studies on patients with allergies to blood pressure-lowering medications and found that glutinous rice wine can lower harmful cholesterol levels in the blood.
Experts conducted a study on two groups of patients. One group took blood pressure medication, while the other group ate fermented glutinous rice. Both groups participated in a treatment program involving lifestyle changes.
The study showed that after 12 weeks and after 24 weeks, cholesterol levels (including harmful cholesterol and total cholesterol) decreased significantly in the group that consumed fermented black glutinous rice.
Studies around the world have also shown that glutinous rice wine has the potential to prevent and fight cancer.
Sticky rice wine, whether made from white or purple glutinous rice, is both a food and a drink. This dish not only nourishes the body but also stimulates appetite and aids digestion.
Sticky rice wine combined with yogurt is also a dish that is good for digestion and appealing to children.
According to this expert, fermented glutinous rice contains a very low amount of alcohol. Therefore, the likelihood of getting drunk from fermented rice is almost nonexistent. This is because when making fermented rice, the producer only ferments it for 3 days, while wine is fermented for 7-10 days. The longer the fermentation time, the greater the amount of sugar converted into alcohol.
In addition, glutinous rice is very high in iron. Therefore, eating purple glutinous rice every day can help prevent iron deficiency diseases.
