On June 3rd, in a phone conversation with Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Tran Thu Van (T.'s mother) stated that on May 29th, doctors at Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital completed the procedures to transfer T. to Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital for better treatment.

Over 1.5 billion VND has been donated to support T.

The doctor also performed a second surgery and fitted a colostomy for T. T.'s health is now stable, and the wound is no longer bleeding.

"T. woke up and realized her leg was gone. She asked me if she could still go to school and get a prosthetic leg, Mom. Her words brought tears to my eyes. To encourage her, I said yes, as long as she got better. When she went back to school, I would take care of her," Mrs. Van said, her voice choked with emotion.

Ms. Van and her husband, Mr. Nguyen Chi Tam, are laborers with precarious and unstable incomes. The incident has made their family's situation even more difficult.

Worried about T., Mrs. Vân stayed at the Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital. Mr. Tâm stayed home, doing odd jobs like weeding and spraying pesticides to earn a little extra money to send to T.'s care.

"When T. had the accident, many people showed concern, sympathy, and support. As for long-term treatment, I will worry about my child no matter what," Mrs. Van said.

Mr. Tran Quoc Nhan, the principal of U Minh Thuong District Secondary and High School, said that when T. was involved in a traffic accident, the school sent an open letter to teachers and local departments and agencies appealing for support for her.

To date, teachers, parents, and everyone else have shared their love and sent T. a sum of money.

"At the end of the fundraising campaign, the school received over 1.5 billion VND. With this money, the school, in coordination with the local authorities, plans to open a savings account to help T. cover her long-term treatment costs," Mr. Nhan shared.

Assess the speed and load of the truck to determine appropriate action.

Regarding the incident, the U Minh Thuong District Police informed that they are investigating, verifying, and assessing the speed and load of the truck involved in the collision with T.'s electric scooter. Once the results are available, local authorities will take appropriate action.

Previously, Tuoi Tre Online reported that at approximately 10:00 AM on May 27th, on National Highway 63 (Thanh Yen commune, U Minh Thuong district, Kien Giang province), Mr. D.TB - the driver of a truck with license plate 68H.022.XX - collided with an electric scooter carrying NTAT and NTTN - 6th grade students from U Minh Thuong Secondary and High School.

The accident left NTAT seriously injured, with both legs severed. NTTN suffered a broken arm.

Footage from a resident's camera shows T.'s electric scooter crossing the road on its way home when it collided with a truck approaching from behind.
