Son beats father to death.

On May 23, the Kon Tum Provincial People's Court held a mobile trial and sentenced the defendant A Thuoc (20 years old, residing in Dak Pne commune, Kon Ray district, Kon Tum province) to 18 years in prison for "murder".

According to the court, angered by his father's frequent drinking and beating of his mother, on the afternoon of November 27, 2022, A Thuoc went from his house to his father's house, Mr. A Poi (born in 1982), to confront him. An argument ensued between the two. Angered, A Thuoc went to the back of the house, grabbed a crowbar, and struck Mr. A Poi multiple times, causing him to fall and bleed.

When neighbors intervened, A Thuoc stopped. After the neighbors left, Mr. A Poi went out into the yard, and A Thuoc continued to beat him multiple times with the wooden stick, causing the victim to collapse to the ground.

After committing the crime, A Thuoc left Mr. A Poi lying on the ground and went home. At around 4:30 PM that same day, a female neighbor discovered Mr. A Poi lying motionless in the yard and reported it to the police. When the police arrived at the scene, Mr. A Poi had already died from acute blood loss. A Thuoc was arrested shortly afterward.
