Police have temporarily seized two cars with identical blue license plates.

In Ha Tinh, a Ford Laser and a Toyota Hiace, both bearing official license plate 38A-1169, which were frequently parked on Vo Liem Son Street, were temporarily seized by the Ha Tinh City Police for investigation.

On the evening of March 29, the Ha Tinh City Police announced that they had brought two vehicles to the station for verification, one of which, a Toyota Hiace, had its license plates removed.

The registered owner of the 5-seater Ford Laser with license plate 38A-1169 is the Ha Tinh Youth Vocational Training and Employment Service Center, under the Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union. On December 22, 2022, the Vocational Training Center sold the vehicle to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hoa, 36 years old, residing in Nam Ha Ward, Ha Tinh City. The sale was processed according to regulations, but the license plate was not retrieved during the handover process.

The 12-seater Toyota Hiace is a used vehicle belonging to the Nghe An Provincial Department of Transport, with the old license plate 37A-1989, blue background, white letters and numbers. The vehicle's registration and license plate were revoked on July 10, 2023, and it was sold to Mr. Hoang Van Hoa, residing in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province. Mr. Hoa then resold the vehicle to Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan, Mrs. Hoa's husband.

According to the police, Mr. Tuan and Mrs. Hoa are involved in buying, selling, and disposing of used cars as scrap metal. Mr. Tuan stated that he used the license plate 38A-1169 on the Toyota Hiace to attract customers to view the vehicle, not for road use.

The Ha Tinh City Police said they will advise the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee on how to handle the incident according to regulations.

The head of the Traffic Police Department of Ha Tinh Provincial Police said that having two cars sharing the same license plate is against regulations and advised people buying vehicles liquidated by state agencies to transfer ownership within one month of signing the contract.
