Meanwhile, a leader of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward said that he was aware of the incident and transferred the information to the ward police for verification. In the immediate future, the authorities will clarify the location of the incident before imposing sanctions.
A representative of the Economic Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department of Hoan Kiem Ward also said that they had learned of the incident and forwarded the information to the Ward Police for verification. Through initial inspection, "it is likely that the location in the video is outside the ward area."
After the merger, the train street coffee street is located on the border of 3 wards Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh and Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam.
On October 7, a foreign account named Seni World Travel posted a video recording a train running through a railway cafe street in Hanoi, knocking over tables and chairs, causing panic among tourists.
The 10-second video shows a restaurant with tables and chairs placed close to the edge of the tracks. When the train passes, some tables are knocked over. Tourists sitting nearby jump up and scream, while many hold up their phones to record. The video quickly attracted more than 2 million views in just one day after being posted.
"The moment a train crashed into tables and chairs on Hanoi's railway street. This is a reminder for everyone to keep a safe distance from the tracks." poster with caption.
This is not the first time a similar incident has occurred at the train cafe street. In June, another video recorded a tourist nearly being hit by a train while sitting near the train tracks on the Phung Hung - Tran Phu section.
According to the investigation, the incident happened in September 2024, the male tourist slipped and fell towards the train, luckily only suffering a minor knee injury.
After the incident, authorities increased security at entrances to the area, requiring tourists and restaurant owners to comply with safety regulations.
Hanoi authorities have repeatedly reminded and asked tourists to leave the train street coffee area.
The situation of businesses encroaching on railway safety corridors has been required to be thoroughly handled since 2019, but after each inspection, this area quickly returned to operation.
