The difficult lives of those who suffered workplace accidents.

The first destination for the delegation was the family of Mr. Nguyen Cong Anh, a worker at Dong Thanh International Investment Joint Stock Company, residing in Tay Tuu ward. Following a work accident during air conditioning maintenance at the Avenue Garden project in August 2025, he suffered multiple serious injuries to his face, legs, and arms. Despite undergoing lengthy treatment, nearly six months later, his legs have not fully recovered, making daily activities and mobility difficult, forcing him to stop working.
Nguyen Cong Anh's family is also facing extremely difficult circumstances. His elderly parents are farmers with no pension; his three young children, all of whom are of school age, depend on his income. Since the accident, the family's life has become even more challenging as the family's main breadwinner is no longer healthy enough to work as before. In their small, impoverished home, the family's struggle for survival is a source of deep concern for many. Mr. Nguyen Cong Ky, Nguyen Cong Anh's father, said that since his son's accident, the family has had to be very frugal. Fortunately, Nguyen Cong Anh still receives a basic salary of nearly 8 million VND per month from his company during his time off work, and the labor union has shown concern and helped the family alleviate some of their difficulties.

Leaving Tay Tuu ward, the delegation continued to visit Mr. Phi Dinh Vuong, a worker at Young Fast Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Hoai Duc commune. For many years, he has repeatedly suffered accidents during work, resulting in severe injuries to both legs, seriously affecting his ability to walk and work. After prolonged treatments, this worker's life has become even more difficult as he has to cope with the pain from his injuries while facing the daily pressures of making a living. The difficulty in walking and the declining health after the accidents have added to the hardships of his family's life. Moved by the concern of the Trade Union organization, Mr. Phi Dinh Vuong shared that the timely support of the Trade Union organization is not only a source of material assistance but also provides motivation for workers and their families to overcome this difficult period.
Spreading the care and concern of the Trade Union organization.
During his visits to the families, the Chairman of the Hanoi City Federation of Labor, Nguyen Van Thang, cordially inquired about the health and living conditions of the workers and shared in the difficulties the families were experiencing. He affirmed that caring for union members and workers, especially those who have suffered work accidents or occupational diseases, is always a priority for the Hanoi Labor Union. Mr. Nguyen Van Thang expressed his hope that businesses and grassroots labor unions would continue to pay attention to and support workers in overcoming this difficult period.
On this occasion, the Hanoi City Federation of Labor Unions provided each recipient with 3 million VND in support, along with gifts worth 300,000 VND. These gifts not only provided material support but also served as timely encouragement and sharing from the Labor Union organization to workers who unfortunately faced risks in their lives and work.
According to the Hanoi City Federation of Labor, directly visiting and sharing with workers at their homes helps the trade union better understand the actual circumstances of workers so that appropriate and practical support measures can be implemented to meet their needs.
By promoting the self-inspection role of trade unions, in 2025, the city's trade union system made a breakthrough in self-monitoring at the grassroots level; more than 4,000 grassroots trade unions conducted self-inspections on occupational safety and hygiene, fire prevention and control; and issued 3,328 recommendations to employers. This led to the supplementation and improvement of 3,128 safety regulations and work procedures.
Besides strengthening inspections and providing material support, Hanoi's trade unions at all levels also coordinate with businesses to address the entitlements and policies for workers who suffer work-related accidents or occupational diseases; provide legal and insurance advice; and create conditions for workers to quickly stabilize their lives.
Furthermore, we will continue to promote awareness and education on occupational safety and hygiene, aiming for the long-term goal of fostering a "safety culture" in the workplace – where safety is no longer just a slogan but becomes a habit, a discipline, and a responsibility for each individual and organization, even those without a trade union. This will contribute to building a safe, humane, and sustainable working environment for Hanoi's workers in the new era of development.
