AI engineer's salary hits $250 million, far surpassing the creator of the atomic bomb

Meta has just shocked the technology world when it offered a salary of up to 250 million USD in 4 years to young Artificial Intelligence (AI) researcher Matt Deitke - equivalent to 327 times the salary of J. Robert Oppenheimer when he led the project to build the atomic bomb.

Not stopping there, another AI engineer is said to have received a $1 billion offer from Meta, showing that the race to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI) is pushing compensation to unprecedented levels.

The pay gap between the tech eras is now unimaginable. Oppenheimer, the leader of the Manhattan Project, and Neil Armstrong, the icon of the Moon landing, each earned between $190,000 and $244,000 a year in today’s inflationary terms. Yet AI researcher Matt Deitke has just been offered an average of $62.5 million a year by Meta—hundreds of times more.

Tim Cook: Apple must win the AI race

During an hour-long company-wide meeting following the most recent earnings report, Apple CEO Tim Cook stressed that Apple “must” and “will” win in AI.

Despite launching many AI features under the Apple Intelligence brand, major upgrades to the Siri voice assistant have been delayed. Cook admitted that Apple is not often the first, but he emphasized: “ There was a PC before the Mac, a smartphone before the iPhone, a tablet before the iPad… but Apple redefined them all. ”

CEO Tim Cook announced to investors that Apple will increase its investment in artificial intelligence. Currently, besides upgrading Siri, Apple is promoting key areas related to AI such as smart photo editing, information summarization, automatic language editing...

YouTube tests “collab” feature like Instagram and TikTok

YouTube has just launched a new feature that allows creators to add collaborators to their videos – similar to the "collab" feature on Instagram and TikTok. This feature helps channels reach each other's audiences, and also shows the collaborator's name next to the channel name in the viewer interface.

If there are multiple contributors, the system will display “...and more” and allow viewers to click to see the full list with a subscription button.

YouTube is currently testing the feature with a small group of people and will adjust it based on community feedback before rolling it out more widely. If successful, the “collab” feature will become a powerful tool to support viral videos and help small channels reach new viewers more quickly.
