According to Daily Mail, a large-scale rescue operation began on the morning of October 5 when hundreds of people were stranded on the eastern slope of Mount Everest in Tibet (China). It is known that heavy snow began to fall on the evening of October 3 and continued to fall all day on October 4.
Locals and rescue teams shoveled snow to clear paths to campsites at 4,876 meters above ground. Many tents were destroyed, and some climbers suffered from hypothermia due to the cold weather.

According to Chinese state media Jimu News , 350 hikers were brought to safety and reached the small town of Qudang. Rescuers have made contact with more than 200 others.
Chen Geshuang, a member of the 18-person climbing team that reached Qudang, said: "The weather on the mountain is very wet and cold, and hypothermia is a real risk. The weather this year is unusual. The guide said he had never seen such weather in October. And it happened so suddenly."
"Many people's tents collapsed, all the paths down the mountain were blocked," Chen continued.
Ticket sales and entry to the Everest Scenic Area were suspended from late October 4 due to severe weather, according to local Tingri Tourism Company.
