Leading the Southeast region

On May 4, 2021, the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution 07 on the development orientation of the Southeast region until 2025, with a vision to 2030. The resolution aims to develop the Southeast region of Quang Nam into a chain of urban areas, service centers, tourism hubs, clean industries, and high-tech agriculture centers ; to preserve and promote cultural and historical values; and to develop ecosystems that respond to climate change...

Nearly three years after the resolution was implemented, the results have been quite positive, especially in the industrial sector. Particularly noteworthy are the automotive and multi-purpose mechanical projects, with the core being the projects in the Chu Lai - Truong Hai Automotive and Mechanical Industrial Park (243 hectares) invested in by Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company ( Thaco ).

To date, this industrial park has attracted 50 operational secondary projects, including 12 projects for the production, assembly, and distribution of automobiles, and 38 projects operating in the fields of mechanical manufacturing and supporting industries; with an occupancy rate of 80%; providing regular employment for more than 13,000 workers.

Thaco has also established Thaco Auto and Thaco Industries with the goal of forming a large-scale industrial park supporting the mechanical engineering industry in Central Vietnam through cooperation and joint ventures with domestic and foreign partners to manufacture and trade mechanical products and supporting industrial products in and outside the automotive industry, aiming towards a global value chain.

To date, Thaco has exported products to 19 countries worldwide , including the US, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Sweden, and Finland. Thaco is proposing to expand the Chu Lai - Truong Hai Automotive Mechanical Industrial Park project by an additional 115 hectares to further attract industries such as automotive manufacturing, construction machinery, and supporting mechanical industries.

The Southeast region contributes over 70% of the province's total budget revenue, playing a crucial role in promoting the province's economic and labor structure transformation.

In recent times, in addition to projects implemented by Thaco, the Management Board of Economic Zones and Industrial Parks of Quang Nam province has also promoted and attracted automotive supporting industry projects in Tam Thang Industrial Park, such as the automotive parts manufacturing project of CTR Vina Co., Ltd., the automotive wiring harness manufacturing project of Draexlmaier Automotive Vietnam JSC, and the automotive supporting factory project of Oriental Commerce Vina Co., Ltd.

Increase the technological content.

Currently, the province has 14 industrial parks with approved investment policies/investment registration certificates, totaling 3,670 hectares. The Quang Nam Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, adds new industrial parks in Dai Loc, Dien Ban, Thang Binh, Hiep Duc, Que Son, and Phu Ninh districts, bringing the total industrial park land area in the province to 10,165.8 hectares.

Regarding the high-tech industrial park group, Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang - Head of the Management Board of Economic Zones and Industrial Parks of the province - said that according to the Southeast Regional Planning of the province, there are 2 high-tech industrial parks planned with a total area of approximately 610 hectares.

Based on the Provincial Party Committee's guidelines and the revised master plan for the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Quang Nam Economic Zones and Industrial Parks Management Board the task of developing a zoning plan (scale 1/2,000) for the Thang Binh High-Tech Industrial Park, covering 310 hectares (after consulting with the Ministry of Construction), which was approved by the Provincial Planning Appraisal Council. In addition, the management board is continuing to research and draft a mechanism for the high-tech industrial park to submit to the Provincial People's Committee.
