Regarding the information that many disadvantaged workers who received Tet gifts from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) had to spend them through the account of HD Saison Finance Company, on the afternoon of January 26, Vice President of the VGCL Phan Anh responded to this issue.
According to Mr. Phan Anh, partner HD Saison Finance Company provides free cards for union members to receive support of 300,000 VND, used to buy goods on the online Trade Union Tet Market with the hope that the support money will go to the right union members and be used for the right purpose of Tet shopping on e-commerce platforms.
The representative of the General Confederation of Labor also clarified that after receiving concerns that employees who open online credit cards are signed contracts with a spending limit of 5 million VND (spend first, pay later), if they spend more than the 300,000 VND given, the additional amount will be counted as debt, must be paid on time, late payment will have to pay interest and penalties... The General Confederation of Labor has worked again with HD Saison Finance Company and reached an agreement that with the credit card, employees receiving support from the General Confederation of Labor only have a maximum limit of 300,000 VND, no higher limit.
According to Mr. Phan Anh, with the desire to contribute to building an advanced, modern working class following the trend of cashless spending and especially to familiarize workers with online shopping, the General Confederation of Labor organized the first online Trade Union Tet Market through e-commerce trading floors so that 201,000 union members could receive gifts and choose to buy goods on all legal e-commerce platforms in Vietnam.
The General Confederation of Labor has negotiated with the two most popular platforms today, Shopee and Tiki, to open separate Tet Market booths on these platforms and offer additional incentives such as product prices reduced by up to 50%, promotional codes to deduct money from 40,000 - 50,000 VND/order when paying, and shipping fee exemptions from 15,000 - 300,000 VND/order.
According to the General Confederation of Labor, many union members have successfully purchased goods and are very excited. Many units have 100% union members who have purchased goods and union members expressed satisfaction with the online Union Tet Market, evaluating this as a modern, convenient method, suitable for the needs and conditions of union members and workers.
As of January 24, more than 41,000 people had received support money, of which nearly 38,000 had completed purchases.
However, there are still some members who do not have smartphones, do not have the habit of online shopping, want to use cash, are afraid to carry out procedures to open a card, pay online...
The General Confederation of Labor has recorded difficulties from the grassroots, listened to them, implemented and adjusted to diversify methods of caring for and supporting union members and workers, suitable to conditions, meeting needs, contributing to union members and workers having a warm, healthy, safe, economical Tet holiday, leaving no one behind.
