Many architectural landmarks have become iconic symbols when it comes to tourism in Ho Chi Minh City.
Leveraging advantages
After three organized events, the program to visit the national-level architectural and artistic heritage site of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and People's Committee headquarters has attracted nearly 5,000 visitors, with an increasing number of visitors from other localities and international tourists registering to visit.
Most visitors were delighted and excited to visit the more than 100-year-old architectural structure, learn about the city's history, and hoped the headquarters would remain open to attract more visitors. Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism assessed this as an opportunity for the city to introduce new tourism programs focusing on exploring its historical and cultural landmarks.
Recently, city tours and tours to cultural and historical sites in Ho Chi Minh City have received considerable attention from both locals and domestic and international tourists. Familiar destinations and short tours lasting 2 hours or half a day are becoming popular choices, especially for families and young people.
Leveraging the potential of historical landmarks, Vietluxtour Travel, in collaboration with the District 1 People's Committee, launched the "Vibrant Saigon" tour in August 2022. The tour itinerary takes visitors through famous architectural sites such as: the City Post Office , Notre Dame Cathedral, InterContinental Hotel, City Theatre, and allows them to admire the ancient architecture of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and People's Committee headquarters, Bach Dang Wharf Park, and the Thu Ngu flagpole…
At Saigontourist Travel, the "Saigon Heritage of a Hundred Years" one-day tour also takes visitors to famous landmarks in the city center and to the Cholon area with its assembly halls, temples, and pagodas recognized as national architectural and artistic heritage sites of the Chinese community after nearly 300 years of existence.
According to Mr. Pham Anh Vu, Director of Communications at Viet Travel Joint Stock Company, the announcement by Ho Chi Minh City of 366 historical and cultural relic sites represents a huge potential for developing inner-city tours, especially half-day to full-day tours.
Impressed by their friendliness.
After touring the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and People's Committee, Mr. Le Mau Hiep emotionally wrote in the guest book: "As a citizen of Ho Chi Minh City, I am very honored to visit this national historical site… I am moved that the city leaders have created opportunities for citizens to interact and visit, fostering warm, close, and united feelings, adding energy and motivation to work together, build, and develop the city into an increasingly beautiful, compassionate, and modern place."
Stepping off the plane at Tan Son Nhat Airport, preparing to return home after a tour of Ho Chi Minh City organized by Vietravel, Ms. Saritha Krishna (an Indian tourist) tearfully said goodbye to her tour guide: "Your kindness and friendliness truly made our trip unforgettable. Your extensive knowledge of the city's history and culture has taught us so much. We look forward to returning to Ho Chi Minh City."
Along with the female tourist, many others also captured memories of their trip to Ho Chi Minh City by taking check-in photos next to the city's famous architectural landmarks.
According to a representative from Vietravel Tourism Company, international tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City often explore iconic cultural and historical landmarks such as the Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, the City Post Office, the Reunification Hall, Ben Thanh Market, museums, the Thien Hau Pagoda, the Cu Chi Tunnels, and enjoy local specialties like pho, banh mi, spring rolls, and banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancakes).
