Recently, in Binh Duong province, there has been a situation where electricity customers have received calls (or messages) via SMS or zalo from strange phone numbers claiming to be "electricity staff", "Binh Duong Electricity Company staff", etc., and at the same time, requesting customers to provide relevant information such as: changing information from ID card to Citizen ID card, requesting to make friends on Zalo to send pictures of electricity bills or send links via zalo to confirm that electricity bills have been transferred, etc.
Accordingly, when customers access the fake link or fake application, they will be at risk of having their personal information stolen, or their bank account hijacked, leading to the loss of all the money in the account. In addition, if the customer refuses the request, the subjects will threaten to cut off the electricity because the electricity industry has not received information about the successful electricity payment transfer. After that, the scammers will suggest to the customer and send information via the link, QR code or install the fake app. Some customers, due to the fear of power outage, will follow the scammers' instructions and have all the money in their account hijacked.
To protect customers' rights, Binh Duong Power Company (PCBD) recommends that customers only pay electricity bills through official channels. PCBD absolutely does not use personal accounts to collect electricity bills from customers and currently has only one customer care application, the EVNSPC CSKH App. This application allows customers to look up electricity consumption, receive power outage notifications, look up bills, pay electricity bills...
