Ninh Binh Power Company cut SCTV's cables.

(NLĐO) - According to VTV, Ninh Binh Power Company cut the cables of Saigontourist Cable Television Company, causing significant impact on the rights of citizens and businesses.

According to Vietnam Television (VTV), at 9:14 AM on February 16th, Ninh Binh Provincial Power Company instructed two teams to cut cables belonging to Saigontourist Cable Television Company (SCTV), a joint venture of VTV, in all areas, as per production orders.

Accordingly, the power company cut the Ninh Binh-Kim Son main fiber optic cable, causing a loss of signal at 5 optical nodes (signal connection points) in Ninh Binh City and 10 nodes in Kim Son, affecting 1,500 customers.

Subsequently, the power company cut off the main line from Ninh Binh to Ha Nam, causing a loss of signal for 100 customers and disrupting the main line leased to Mobifone . This incident affected a total of 1,600 customers, including Mobifone's corporate clients.

At 10:16, the electricity company guard had left but declared that they would not allow cable splicing. If SCTV spliced ​​the cable, they would come back and cut it again in the afternoon.

VTV argues that the Ninh Binh Provincial Power Company's cutting of SCTV's cables caused widespread disruption to SCTV's services and significantly affected the rights of people and businesses using SCTV's services; resulting in property damage and seriously damaging the reputation of VTV and SCTV.

To ensure the safety and smooth operation of the national television channel transmission system, especially channels serving political purposes, SCTV and VTV have requested the power companies to provide support and refrain from interfering with SCTV's cable network in any way. This is to ensure the stability and safety of VTV's national television channel transmission system.

Previously, on February 14th, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) issued Official Letter No. 958 to the Electricity Corporations regarding coordination with cable television units under VTV in managing television cables suspended on electricity poles.

EVN requires the Electricity Corporations to direct their subordinate units to strictly adhere to the contracts for managing television cables suspended on power poles signed with cable television units under VTV. At the same time, they must closely coordinate with VTV's cable television units (VTVcab, SCTV) to ensure the safety of television cables suspended on power poles.

EVN also requested the Power Corporations to closely coordinate with units under VTV to publicize the production, business, and investment activities of the Group and its units; and to guide and encourage creative solutions and ideas in promoting electricity saving in accordance with Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated March 8, 2023, of the Prime Minister.

However, Ninh Binh Provincial Power Company cut SCTV's television cable, failing to comply with EVN's directive as per Official Letter No. 958.
