The announcement ceremony for the sponsor and launch of the VPL-S4 national 7-a-side football championship took place in Hanoi this morning, May 24th. 2023 marks a significant milestone: 10 years of building and developing the 7-a-side football (VPL) format in Vietnam with the first tournament of the Hanoi Premier League (HPL).

VPL, known as Vietnam's leading and prestigious 7-a-side football league, has contributed to promoting this format over the past 10 years. 7-a-side football has long been considered a unique and exciting platform for Vietnamese football fans, giving them the opportunity to showcase their passion, talent, and skills in the sport.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) awarded a certificate of merit recognizing the contribution of 7-a-side football to Vietnamese football.

During this period, 7-a-side football (seven-a-side football) has risen to become a national-level tournament. In 2022, Vietnam hosted the Southeast Asian 7-a-side Football Championship, with three representatives from Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia participating. The tournament created a positive impact not only in Vietnam but also sparked a passion for this new football format among countries in the region.

At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Football Federation - shared: " The first 10 years were an extremely difficult and arduous journey for VietFootball to achieve what we have today. We have witnessed the national 7-a-side football league attracting the attention of spectators to the stadiums to cheer and follow on social media platforms."

The VFF highly appreciates VietFootball's partnership over the past 10 years, especially in building a stronger and more sustainable 7-a-side football system, contributing to the development of grassroots football in Vietnam .

This year's VPL-S4 season will take place in three regions: the Northern region (HPL-S10), the Southern region (SPL-S5) in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces, and the Western, Central and Central Highlands region (DPL-S2) in Dak Lak . It is expected that the 8 strongest teams representing these regions will compete in the national finals in August.

With the support and coordination from the General Department of Physical Education and Sports , the Vietnam Football Federation, the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the joint efforts of the entire community, along with partners and sponsors, especially Saigon Beer, VPL-S4, in its fourth year on a nationwide scale, will continue to play a significant role in spreading the spirit of love for football and sports training in Vietnam.
